DYK that the emergency power systems of #trains like for example the latest #ICE4 of Deutsche Bahn are powered mainly by leadbatteries. DYK that #lead #batteries are 98% recyclable and that every new lead #battery consists for more than 80% out of recycled material and subsequently lead batteries are the best example of a #sustainable and #circular economy.

Another, yet very special addition to my sentimental pile of conference badges - a first academic conference! NOFOMA 2024 was dedicated to Logistics and Supply Chain Management in a Risky and Uncertain World. Together with Ville Hinkka, Jukka Kääriäinen, Markku Mikkola and Emma Mulhern we investigated how digital logistics platforms can contribute to achieving green goals of transport. ADMIRAL is aiming to create a platform capable of significantly reducing CO2 emissions in a transport network. While platforms can contribute to improved visibility of emissions for informed choices and better matchmaking between buyers and suppliers, there is still a long way to go to create safe data sharing approaches and collaboration between long time competitors. #ADMIRALProject #HorizonEurope #Sustainability #Logistics #GreenLogistics

During InnoTrans 2024, I had the opportunity to be part of a Green Rail Transport discussion with key leaders on the future of sustainability and rail: Lilian Leroux, Simone Gorini, Véronique Andriès.   Alongside Wabtec Corporation, Alstom, and iryo, we have explored how to move beyond electrification and focus on sustainable train manufacturing, operations and circularity.
