With the holiday season quickly approaching, Fleetway staff gathered for a Holiday lunch today. Following our lunch, staff received their annual holiday turkeys, a tradition JD Irving has carried on for decades. We want to thank everyone who helped organize this festive celebration!

“Without a doubt, it’s the people that make United Road special,” said Sandra Tatum, CDP Tatum, our Director of Human Resources and Benefits. Sandra is celebrating her 20th anniversary with The Road! 🎉 Sandra said, “I work with our leadership and management on organizational support, which includes employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, coaching, mentoring, counseling, operational excellence, and data analysis. I oversee the Benefits and HR Departments with my fantastic management team.” “Working in the finished vehicle transport industry is not easy, but it’s worth it,” Sandra said. “Being a professional carhauler is hard work in the best of conditions. But being a carhauler in the sun, rain, snow, and everything in between takes someone dedicated to what they are doing. The reward is the independence of the open road, seeing new places and meeting new people, and pride in the fact that they are helping to keep America moving. Last but not least, it can be very financially rewarding.” Like many in our industry, Sandra has a passion for travel. “It’s my goal to visit as many places in the world as I can. Traveling gives a great perspective on life and the world as a living, breathing, changing place. My favorite things are experiencing different cultures, food, music, and history.” Sandra added, “Steve Jobs is quoted as saying, ‘Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.’ I love what I do, who I work for, and those we serve. My daily goal is to do great work and support those around me in doing the same.” Sandra, the love is mutual! 🫶 ❤️ Thanks for dedicating 20 years and counting to helping make our HR operations run smoothly and how you expertly help our carhaulers and team members achieve success. We wish you continued happiness and fascinating travels! #DrivenToDeliver #carhaulindustry #logistics #humanresources #happyanniversary

Many passengers were traveling on a boat when they suddenly discovered a hole in it. Most of the passengers began searching for nearby boats and moved to safety. However, the boatman, along with a few dedicated passengers, focused on fixing the issue before considering other options. The boatman, embodying a strong sense of responsibility, was the last person to leave the boat. Similarly, in an organization, during times of crisis, many people immediately start looking for alternatives. However, there are always employees who step up to resolve the issue because they feel a deep sense of ownership, much like the boatman. To foster this kind of dedication, organizational culture and policies should aim to motivate employees and instill a strong sense of responsibility and belonging. #ownership #organisationculture #employeeretention

🚛 Wellness Wednesday: Gratitude for Truckers 🚛 Today, we pause to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of the trucking community. Your dedication keeps the world moving—literally. From delivering essential goods to supporting industries across the nation, truckers are the backbone of the economy. Thank you for: Your Hard Work: Long hours and challenging conditions don’t stop you from getting the job done. Your Resilience: From unpredictable weather to traffic delays, you adapt and persevere to ensure goods reach their destinations. Your Sacrifice: Time on the road often means time away from family, especially during holidays and special occasions. Without your efforts, shelves would go empty, businesses would stall, and communities would lack the essentials they depend on. 🚚💙 As you continue to power the economy, remember to take time for yourself. Your health and well-being are just as important as the loads you deliver. To the trucking community: We see you, we value you, and we’re grateful for all that you do. Let’s give a big shoutout to truckers! Share your gratitude or tag a trucker you appreciate in the comments. 👇 #WellnessWednesday #Truckers #ThankYouTruckers #EssentialWorkers #StoughtonTrailers #StoughtonLease #LeaseDifferently

Long Distance Train Rides (and Leaders) Treat You Like a Human Coming home solo from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin last week, I split my travel between a flight into Chicago and a four-hour train ride on portions of the Amtrak Empire Builder route (Chicago to Washington State) for the remainder. The big difference in travel modes: Trains rides treat you like a human. Not to denigrate the airline industry. There are required safety regulations in place that are needed to keep us protected. But the differences were clear. 1. No one is pressuring us to sit down. Standing is frowned upon on airlines while trains are naturally made to roam the observation decks, bars, dining cars, and others. We’re just free! 2. Community is encouraged. Trains are set up with areas to commune. Strangers become friends at shared meals and while seeing wonders out the windows. 3. Seating is flexible. In the observation deck, people roam in and out. I sat next to five different people in my seat and moved twice. No one is telling me where to sit. Like trains, the best leaders treat others not just as humans, but as volunteers. Imagine treating everyone at work like they volunteered to be there. It would be a lot different. We need leaders who don’t place unnecessary pressure on their people, create community where others love to come into work, and allow flexibility in workstyles while avoiding micromanagement. Trains and leaders have a lot in common. The most important thing is they both treat people well!

Why Do We Judge People by Their Jobs? 🛠️ Have you ever noticed how we tend to respect someone more if they have a fancy job title? 🤔 But let’s be real: EVERY job matters. • The delivery rider ensures we get our meals. • The cleaner makes sure our spaces are safe. • The driver gets us to work on time. 💡 Respect isn’t about the title—it’s about the person and their hard work. 👉 Do you agree?
