Significant progress is being made on Livv Housing Group’s new social rent housing scheme in Kirkby, Merseyside. Situated on the former site of the Farmers Arms pub on Mossborough Drive, this £2.6million development will introduce 20 high quality, cottage-style apartments, providing much-needed affordable housing in the area. The development will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, each with its own front door at street level. The homes will be spread across two ‘L’-shaped, two-storey buildings, which will surround a central courtyard with parking and communal gardens for residents to enjoy. Shreveport's Lakeside Gardens apartment complex has announced a $38.1 million renovation plan, which will add 22 new units and upgrade the 55-year-old property, ensuring continued affordable housing in the area. Louisiana leaders, including State Sen. Sam Jenkins and developer Jasmine Winston-Wilson, praised the investment, noting that without these renovations, the complex would have ceased to exist. Vive Development Corporation is expanding from its home base in #Kitchener, Ont. into a new market with ambitious plans to #redevelop the former St. Catharines General Hospital site into a high-rise purpose-built #rental community. The over 10-acre property at 142 Queenston St. in St. Catharines was acquired earlier this month for $10 million in a receivership sale. The site had gone through a few ownership changes before Vive’s acquisition, according to Litt. The #hospital closed in 2013 after serving the community for 143 years and has since been demolished to below grade, though a lot of material remains which will have to be removed before new construction can begin. An application from the former owner, submitted on Dec. 16, 2022, proposed: 🔸four buildings ranging from 11 to 16 storeys along with 40 townhomes providing 1,131 #residential units; 🔸13,282 square feet of #commercial space; 🔸858 parking spaces; and 🔸140 bicycle storage spaces.
