The WSJ recently featured an article discussing a Disney data leak earlier this summer, revealing millions of data points, including sensitive revenue figures. For Disney's competitors, this data could serve as a valuable benchmark. However, as a CI practitioner, the question arises: should the obtained data be used? This presents a grey area, considering the data was accessed unlawfully and made public. In my view, regardless of its origin, confidential information should be handled cautiously, if used at all. There are no clear right or wrong answers in this situation, and as I'm not a business law expert, I refrain from giving advice. I'd be interested to hear others' perspectives on this matter. #Fletcher #CompetitiveIntelligence #Ethics Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gxhjxDVt
God's perspective- Do good, be rewarded. Breach other people's stuff, judgement is on its way...choose wisely.
This shows the importance in the age of GenAI and cloud computing that cybersecurity is critical. Your thoughts? #genai #cybersecurity
I'm thinking this wasn't done with a dial-up connection.
I think it should be used as a cautionary tale and that's about it.

1moI often think about how during the 2000 presidential election, the Gore campaign was mailed a tape of George Bush's debate prep sessions - essentially a cheat sheet for how Bush would structure his answers in their upcoming debate - and the campaign immediately turned the tape over to the FBI. I think any functioning CI program should have that baseline level of integrity with regards to any proprietary information obtained through questionable means, whether it be an illegal data breach or a disgruntled employee. There's no place for that in healthy competition. An ethical intelligence program needs to be built on a foundation of mutual trust. We're competitors, not enemies.
