Are you seeking effective strategies to support your child's academic success? 📚 ENGAGE IN SHARED READING! 📖 Extensive research consistently underscores the substantial benefits of reading aloud to children, contributing significantly to their cognitive, emotional, and educational advancements. The following key research findings shed light on this practice: 🗣 Reading aloud exposes children to a diverse and expansive vocabulary, fostering the development of robust language skills. The contextual presentation of words aids in comprehension, facilitates the acquisition of new vocabulary, and nurtures effective communication skills. 🧠 Shared reading with children actively stimulates brain development, enhancing cognitive functions such as memory, attention span, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, it promotes critical thinking and nurtures imaginative capacities. 👨👨👧👦 Engaging in collaborative reading establishes a resilient emotional bond between parents or caregivers and children. This shared activity provides a sense of security and comfort, contributing to positive emotional development. 🙇🏾 Exposure to storytelling helps children cultivate the ability to concentrate and sustain focus over extended periods, a valuable skill for subsequent academic pursuits. ✨ Shared reading is not exclusive to younger children; it holds immense benefits for older kids as well! . . . . . . . #ReadingWithKids #GrowingThroughBooks #Read #ReadAloud #ReadToYourKids #ReadToBigKids

Do well to read to the end before you start comparing your children to other children because they didn't take the first position in class. Please recognize that academic achievement is not the only measure of your children's potential or worth. Fostering a range of skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, empathy, and communication, can help your children become well-rounded and equipped to make a positive impact in the world. When you focus too intensely on academic success, you may inadvertently create pressure and stress that can lead to negative consequences. Instead, why don't you encourage your children to explore their interests, develop their passions, and learn from failures so that they can grow into confident, resilient, and innovative individuals. A word is enough for the wise.🤨 Cheers to successful parenting! ©️ Ayooluwa Adedeji The Parenting Guru #ayooluwaadedeji #coachayooluwa #themodelfamilyfocus #theparentingguru #parentingtips #parenting

Teacher's Day is a little more special occasion for me and my family since my mom and dad have both been teachers for over 30 years now. They both specialise in Mathematics and believe me, I wouldn't have scored a 96 on my 10th-grade board mathematics paper if it weren't for them (yes, I don’t like math—irony, isn’t it?). Over the years, I developed an interest in writing and reading (thanks to Aai and Baba for fostering that interest in me). Now, looking back, I realize that both as teachers and as parents, they have shaped me into who I am today and given me invaluable life lessons. Importance of Being Independent: You are on your own, kid. The ability to handle things independently without constantly relying on others is crucial. Decision Making: They taught me the importance of making my own decisions. Experimentation: The freedom to experiment and explore various aspects of life has helped me discover new interests and learn from diverse experiences. Balance: They emphasized that while academics are crucial, it's equally important to engage in extracurricular activities and hobbies. Acceptance: Taught me how to accept failures and regrets as part of the learning process. Prioritize Your Mental Health: Your top priority should be your mental health (and physical health as well); everything else comes later. Lastly, Happy Teachers’ Day to every teacher who has made a difference in someone’s life—whether in a classroom, a workshop, or through informal mentorship. #happyteachersday #teachersday #contentwriting #contentwriter #creativewriting

As an educator, I find myself constantly reflecting on the wise words of Aristotle: "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." A well-rounded education encompasses intellectual growth as well as emotional intelligence. In our school, we strive to cultivate not just intellectual excellence, but also compassion, empathy, and a strong sense of moral responsibility. By nurturing these qualities alongside academic excellence, we believe we are preparing our students to not only excel in their chosen fields but also become well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the society. #LinkedIn #Sustainability #SocialResponsibility

Attention. Learning can't happen without it. And neither can big business. Attention is big business. The fierce competition for students' attention is emotionally manipulative and likely harming them long-term. We already see the effects. Students aren't just bored at school, they tell me they are bored at home too, even when doing their favorite thing. Letting children struggle with their boredom can be a good strategy, teaching them the skills to make their own emotional investments. When I teach writing I use this strategy because I'm trying to help students know their passions and keep them burning. What do you really want to say? What matters so much that it is worth sharing? https://lnkd.in/e6EES4NN #literacy #essentialskills #education #principals #teachingandlearning #teaching #englishteacher #socialemotionallearning

Why the International Dyslexia Association insists on structured literacy teaching (and why you should too): Structured literacy is more than just another teaching method. It's a comprehensive approach to literacy, designed for all students, but especially beneficial for those with dyslexia. It emphasizes explicit, systematic instruction in the crucial areas of phonics, vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension. The reason why the International Dyslexia Association recommends it? It works. Research has consistently shown that the structure and predictability of this approach can be significantly more effective, particularly for students struggling with dyslexia. You should consider structured literacy, too, not only because it is scientifically proven to help all students, but also because it fosters a culture of inclusivity in classrooms. By implementing this approach, we ensure that no student falls behind due to their learning differences, and this alone makes it a worthy consideration for any educator. So, let's spark more conversations around structured literacy, let's share success stories and spread the word, because every student deserves the chance to excel in reading and writing. #Dyslexia #Neurodiversity #Literacy

#WordsMatter deeply. We often underestimate the power of words and how we communicate. They shape our self-perception and how the world sees us. As a #MadeByDyslexia kid who struggled with reading and writing, I know firsthand the weight of the achievement gap. My school report cards often reflected this. While going through schoolbooks, I found a workbook from the third grade. My handwriting was messy, with spelling errors and corrections. Yet, my teacher wrote "Excellent" with two stars! No red underlines. The focus was on understanding and meeting the learning objective, not perfection. That positive reinforcement meant the world to me. My journey through the Diploma program in Teaching Children with Learning Disabilities at Azim Premji University fills me with hope. Meeting and interacting with educators who understand learning difficulties and provide the right support can empower children to believe in their abilities. Sharing our #LivedExperiences is crucial. It highlights the unseen struggles and their long-term impact. Let us move beyond narratives of "overcoming" to focus on the entire journey—the challenges, the support, and the outcomes. This is where true learning happens. P.S. #Dysgraphia makes handwriting challenging for me, so it takes extra time. Drawing is difficult too, which is why I turned to abstract art. #communication #dyslexia #education #positivemindset #learningdifferences #inclusion #diversity #teacherlife #educationmatters #childhood #nevergiveup #personalgrowth
