Have you ever wondered how a petrochemical plant accurately measures the steam it produces and consumes? And why is this crucial for the effective functioning of steam networks? 💨 Let's dive into a fascinating case in Germany, where a solution was found to assess the steam input without disrupting the supply. Ensuring the efficient operation of steam networks requires precise measurement and real-time monitoring of steam quantities. In Germany, a petrochemical plant relies heavily on a nearby large power plant for its steam needs. Through combined heat and power generation, this power plant supplies the necessary steam to the high-pressure steam network in the chemical park. While a metering orifice is installed at the power plant's outlet to determine the amount of steam produced, there was a missing piece of the puzzle: no measurement of the steam input from the grid operator's side. Flexim stepped in with an innovative solution, utilizing a permanent device with a unique high-temperature mounting. This device enabled the assessment of the existing flowmeter, specifically designed to measure superheated steam in a DN200 pipe. The beauty of it all? The assessment was carried out seamlessly, without any disruption to the steam supply.
