I landed my dream internship 21 years ago 🙌 Then I realized that I was dreaming the wrong dream! 😳 We give a lot of praise to the people who take a chance on us that ultimately pays off, but the real heroes are the ones who believed in us even when it didn’t work out. I discovered my "dream job" in middle school after watching the movie Toy Story. The emotion, the storytelling, and the cutting-edge graphics technology completely floored me. In that moment, I knew I had to work at Pixar. Fast forward to college—I enrolled in computer science at UC San Diego, home to one of the best graphics programs in the country. Senior year, I landed a spot in Professor Mike Bailey's highly coveted graphics course. He was known for giving internships to his top students, and I worked my ass off to get my first (and only) A+ of college. And it paid off! I was invited to intern with Professor Bailey at the San Diego Supercomputer Center—a huge step toward my Pixar career. For months, I spent my time in a cold, dark room, surrounded by humming supercomputers. By the end, I had 90 seconds of footage of a teapot that looked like it was made of bricks. It was... underwhelming. I asked Professor Mike Bailey, "Is this what working at Pixar is like? When does all the fun design and storytelling happen?" He laughed and said, "Oh, that’s for the animators and writers—not for computer scientists!" That’s when it hit me. Just because Pixar makes incredible films blending technology and storytelling, doesn’t mean that’s the job for everyone working there. Eventually, I found my true calling in Product Management—a perfect balance of both worlds. But without Professor Bailey’s belief in me, I might have spent years pursuing the wrong dream. So, here’s to the Professor Baileys out there—the ones who believe in us even when things don’t go as we expected. 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝘁 Adobe 𝗶𝗳 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻-𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿! I got an on-campus internship at a renowned investment company ‘X’ and even though it made me happy, I wasn’t satisfied. When you’re in college, everyone comes to congratulate you and some definitely made me feel that there’s something wrong with me :( so, I decided to keep applying until I feel satisfied. I have loved arts, painting, and creating since my childhood and I always felt a lack of creativity and exposure in engineering. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and explore companies advancing in innovation in tech. I always wanted to get into Adobe because of its mission to empower people through digital solutions that enhance creativity and productivity. I applied for Adobe without any expectations and one day received the mail that I had been selected! (fr dream come true) This experience taught me the importance of following my passions and not settling for mediocrity. Leaving X wasn't easy, but it was a crucial step towards personal growth and fulfillment. Looking back, I realized that sometimes, dissatisfaction can be a powerful motivator. Did you do anything before that made them call you?  No, I just did my summer internship, that's it. 4. How can I get a 6-month internship if I did a summer internship in Adobe It completely depends upon team requirements and your previous work. I'm not aware of their selection criterion. 5. Does Adobe hire 6-month interns if I haven't done a summer internship before? Yes, but again the preference is given to summer interns. Yesterday marked the end of my summer internship at Autodesk in San Francisco, and what a tremendous journey it has been! I have a pocket full of stories to talk about. Here are the most important soft skills I’ve developed: 1. Embrace Change: Relocating from the East Coast to the West Coast for three months was a daunting task filled with doubts. But I leaped and Man was it worth it! New people, places, and experiences have the power to shape your life in unexpected ways, so whenever you get the chance, embrace the opportunity to see things from a new perspective. 2. Take pleasure in walking into a room full of strangers: I used to feel uncomfortable in crowds, but now I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and learning about their lives, journeys, and experiences. How did I overcome this? I made it a goal to connect with 4 new people each week, scheduled calls with colleagues from across the globe at Autodesk and made sure to attend events around San Francisco at least 3 times a week. The insights I gained were invaluable. 3. Showcase your worth and Brand yourself: It’s important to let others see what you’re capable of. Don’t hesitate to take the lead and show your skills. Talk about what excites you, your personal values, and how they define who you are. Owning your narrative is key to making a lasting impression. 4. Dive into the unknown: You don’t need to be a master of everything right away. While your expertise gives you confidence, the excitement of learning something new is equally important. Embrace the learning curve, give yourself time, and don’t give up—this is how growth happens. 5. Ask for help: Never underestimate the power of seeking help. You’d be surprised how willing people are to lend a hand when you ask. Don’t be afraid to reach out—it can make all the difference. Thank you, Autodesk for the opportunity.

I had a chance to visit the Emerson College Los Angeles last week, and besides my uncontainable enthusiasm with another masterpiece of Architect Thom Mayne, I took a couple branding lessons. Emerson College is one of the top film schools in the country, and the LA campus was built as a satellite to accomodate 200 Senior studens of the Boston campus who come for a semester-long internship program in LaLaLand, the most important hub of the entertainment industry. With that in mind: - Investing in a state-of-the-art campus was a priority in order to offer the best possible experiences to the students, Emerson’s primary customers, offering innovative academic solutions while expanding interactive, social aspects of education. They make it clear that community is an essential value of their brand. - By choosing world acclaimed Architect Thom Mayne and his office Morphosis to lead the campus’ design, Emerson immediately puts its building on the Los Angeles’ landmarks map and creates a statement on innovation that will propel its brand for years to come. It has a powerful role of efficiently tracking and managing the history of the 3D design modifications.
