If you only see exercise and eating well as a way to lose weight or achieve aesthetic goals you’ll always be frustrated by it. I can guarantee with 100% certainty that the scale won’t always cooperate the way you want it to. Often you’ll feel like you’re doing all the things and working super hard with nothing to show for it. My most successful clients find other ways to measure progress on their journey that are meaningful to them. They don’t think of their workouts as a way to burn calories and lose weight. Instead, they see them as opportunities to: Build muscle & get stronger Increase cardio & endurance Improve general health & well-being Connect with family, friends, & loved ones Help them become an awesome person that can do rad shit They don’t view their diet as a well…. diet. They just see it as the way they eat and meals as: Ways to improve performance It makes me healthier It helps me eat slowly and feel full longer Nourishes me but avoids foods that don’t feel good to me Enough to fuel me but not so much that it slows me down Just to make sure we’re clear. Weight loss is a great goal. Especially if that is what’s important for you. But don’t make it the only goal. When it’s the only goal it’s too easy to view exercise and nutrition as punishment for not having the body you want. Never forget that exercise, a healthy diet, and sleep is the ultimate form of self-care. Thank you for reading.
