E-commerce leaders like Flipkart, Meesho, and Jumbotail are shaking up the traditionally male-dominated supply chain by actively wooing women! Flipkart’s Remarkable Progress 🚀 In the past two years, Flipkart has shattered barriers, increasing women’s representation in the supply chain by a whopping 64%. They’ve localized hiring strategies, established creche facilities, and championed training initiatives like Vidhyarthini, Disha, Neev, and the Supply Chain Certification Program. These programs prepare female candidates for roles ranging from internships to management positions. Meesho’s Ambitious Target 🌐 Meesho is on a mission to achieve gender balance. Currently at 21%, they’re aiming for 33% of women in supply chain roles by March next year. Meesho offers period leave, gender-balanced sourcing, and women-only delivery and customer service stations. Jumbotail’s Project Shakti 🛒 In the B2B food and grocery sector, Jumbotail's Project Shakti is a testament to this, aiming to have women fill 50% of operations roles at supply chain fulfilment centres within the next 12–18 months. Project Shakti isn’t just about hiring; it’s about empowerment Why the shift? It's not just about being socially responsible. Companies recognize the power of diversity: 💡 Women bring unique skills and perspectives that boost efficiency and innovation. 💡 Lower attrition rates and higher productivity make them valuable assets. Recruitment firms like CIEL HR and Manpower report a surge in demand for female talent, signalling a paradigm shift towards greater inclusivity and diversity within the e-commerce landscape. How many times have you seen a woman delivering at your doorstep? E-commerce giants like Flipkart, Amazon, Meesho and Jumbotail in India are actively working on improving gender diversity. Initiatives are being taken like period leave, women-focused delivery and customer service centres! 📍This is how companies are tackling it: 1. Preventing biased hiring: Unconscious bias plays a role in hiring. Companies are offering specialized training models to HR and implementing blind resume reviews to reduce its impact. 2. Going Beyond the Basics: Flexible work arrangements, childcare support (especially I would say, the presence of breastfeeding rooms are really necessary), and mentorship specifically for women create a supportive environment. 3. Setting specific goals for gender diversity: HR departments are given mandatory targets for hiring women workforce and at the same time hold leaders accountable for targets on female representation. Here we can take the example of Project Shakti by Jumbotail- which has been socially targeted to bring more women into supply chain operations. It has set a target to have women in 50% of operations roles at supply chain fulfilment centres in the next 12-18 months. 4. Collaboration: The initiative for collaboration with NGOs and educational institutions focused on empowering women in tech and logistics sectors is playing a crucial role as making our women employable is the first and foremost thing. For example, Flipkart’s training initiatives like Vidhyarthini (maximizing awareness regarding supply chain roles for female B-School students), and Supply Chain Certification Programme (SCCP) are designed to prepare female candidates for diverse roles -- from internships to management trainees and roles in supply chain management. 5. Ensuring Safety for Women: While we strive towards creating a diverse workforce we are ensuring our women workforce feels safe and comfortable to work at the offices. Strict measures are being taken for any kind of misbehaviour. As per the sources, Flipkart has increased women’s representation in the supply chain by 64% in the last two years, while Meesho is targeting 33% by March next year from 21% now. What more do you think can be done to address and encourage powerful women in key roles? Shruti Modha #LIPostingChallenge #LinkedInNewsIndia

Had an enthralling dialogue with Sumit Premi, Director of Talent Acquisition at Flipkart, about the future of Talent Assessment Platforms, assessments, and employability. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? The current landscape is missing the mark with a lack of customized, role-based, and skill-based assessment platforms. Most of them just offer a platform instead of a solution. The discussion emphasized the urgent need for platforms that go beyond generic evaluations. Assessment Companies need tools that can assess and develop talent based on specific job roles and skills, ensuring candidates are not just fit for the job but excel in their positions. This shift towards tailored assessments is critical for bridging the gap between education and employability, helping organizations find the right talent faster and more efficiently. Meeting Sumit was truly energizing, opening new avenues for transforming how we evaluate and nurture talent! #TalentManagement #FutureOfWork #SkillDevelopment #RoleBasedAssessment #Employability #HRTech #Innovation #CareerGrowth #Leadership #WorkplaceLearning IIT Madras BS in Data Science Programme
