I learnt something last week. Timber frame houses are historically more common in Scotland because it rains more there than in England and they are quicker to build and get a roof on and be 'in the dry'. When our team looked at the price of a timber frame versus traditional block and beam construction the direct cost uplift was about £12k per standard house. I wonder if anyone is able to shed more light on what a quicker more predictable construction programme is worth. on a per house basis? How much quicker? Timber frame construction is leading the way for more sustainable development, and Scotland is at the forefront, with more than 90 per cent of new homes being built using timber frame. Market share for timber is increasing in the UK too, currently at 23 per cent with a report from the National Housebuilding Council (NHBC) suggesting this could grow to 27 per cent by 2025.  At Allanwater Homes we are proud to be working with Kirkwood Timber Frame which has supplied timber frame structures for many of our new home developments – including, most recently, our site in Chryston near Glasgow.
