I never understood why he was so energetic and bouncing around at the start of every month. After all, it seemed a bit ridiculous how all our hard work was basically erased and we all started right back at zero. I didn't understand until he explained it to me on a 1:1 It seemed like my old director was the happiest person on earth whenever a new month/quarter would hit. He'd get into the office and rally up the troops to dive into new accounts and start hitting the phones. I asked him once on a 1:1 why he seemed so happy at the start of every month even when it meant we were all starting from scratch. "That's the beauty of it. We're all starting from scratch together. It doesn't matter what you did last month. If you blew it out and made it on top or if you choked and ended up 60% under target... A new month means we can start fresh." "Sales is a stressful career filled with uncontrollable variables but the one thing we can be certain of is each month we are all back at the same place. It's like getting a second chance in my opinion. It humbles you and gives you hope at the same time." If that doesn't pump you up for the start of a new month I don't know what will. I started my new position at work 6 months ago. It's a unique role. Part Sales, part strategy, part operations. I now have a good idea of what success looks like over the next 6 months. Here are the ideas I'm thinking about to get there: 1. How to Tell A Better Story 📕 I've come to realize this may be the most important skill there is. Selling is just crafting a story around why your product or service is best. Understanding how to adapt our value proposition to a clients unique needs will unlock that next level of success. 2. How to Evaluate and Build Better Systems 🔧 “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” - James Clear (Atomic Habits) It comes down to how I can achieve predictable outputs with unpredictable inputs. Prospects come to you when it's the right time for them, not the right time for you. Better systems will allow the same high standard of service during times when demand is high. 3. How to Shorten The Feedback Loop ✏️ The one constant in this new role, is the consistent exposure to new experiences. Each of them has shown me a small (or sometimes big) way to improve. Finding ways to pressure test my abilities and receive feedback, on my own timeline, should shorten the learning curve. ”Sales was never something that was on my radar. When I started working here, I was fully committed to becoming a dietitian. 𝐁𝐮𝐭, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. The biggest challenge I faced was learning how to treat this like a business, and not just a fun summer job as a college kid. Learning how to deepen customer relationships, be more efficient and effective with my time and money, as well as taking full advantage of the flexibility the position offers helped me to become more successful. I also try to focus on setting clear goals, watching new videos to help my scripts, and leaning more on my support system. Staying connected to my inner circle is huge in times of struggle. Working in sales has its ebbs and flows, and it’s okay to not be firing on all cylinders 100% of the time. Throughout my career, I’ve held many roles and titles, taken on promotions, and even changed industries. But one thing has remained constant: I don’t care much about job titles. The one “title” that has always mattered to me is “People Person.” No matter the position, my main focus has always been the people I interact with daily. Sure, my current role is in #sales, but I don’t view myself as a salesperson—and I rarely even tell people I am. My job is about people and building relationships. Yesterday, I had the chance to visit one of the first accounts I launched before moving into sales. The manager jumped up to hug me as soon as she saw me. Her entire team recognized me as I walked down the stairs, and that moment reminded me: I’m not in the business of sales; I’m in the business of people. At the end of the day, yes, my role is to sell you a product. But along the way, I’m going to learn about you, your family, and your team. Because while sales might be what I do, caring about people is who I am at my core.

Mission accomplished! Today was my first day ✨2 months ago I left my “perfect” Job as a General manager at Honeybaked Ham. As the youngest GM I quote un quote had it made. 10-15 years of good performance I’d most likely be promoted to middle management then be on my way to the executive level. ✨Instead, I had an insatiable appetite for sales and new I can make more money, and have the impact I want to have. While still pursuing my passions outside of work. Here’s when it all changed… ✨I see this video from Jim Gonzales https://lnkd.in/eqjmuu2V. ✨I Decide to put it into practice. I apply at some Tech company down the street from my house. I go to follow up with them in person with brownies for their hiring manager. I can’t find their office so with me not wanting the brownies or my time to go to waist I walk into this place because they had a cool logo and could’ve been “fintech”(which was my dream industry). I walk in have a conversation with the President of the company Chris Seats and Austin James it was my persistence and follow up that landed me my first Corporate Sales Job at Vertical 2 Financial Marketing. I’m chomping at the bits to hit the phones! Here’s my takeaway’s: 1.Bet on God/Yourself(provided you’re willing to do the work)because faith without works is DEAD 2.Invest your time, energy, and effort into making genuine and real human connection (like I had when I met Chris Seats and he opened up his heart for a 30+ minute spontaneous “interview” when we genuinely got to know each other 3.Follow what you’re good at and develop a passion there

This helps in setting realistic goals and maintaining momentum. 2. Prioritize communication - even if the team is scattered, tools like Slack or Teams keep everyone connected and informed. Regular check-ins can bridge any gaps. 4.The summer slump can be a great time for planning. Review current strategies, prepare for future campaigns, and set up new initiatives. 5. With fewer urgent tasks, it’s a perfect opportunity to strengthen relationships with clients and prospects. Personalized follow-ups can lead to future success. At the age of 18, I work at a sports warehouse selling cross-country skis. At the age of 20, I’m a lab assistant at a university in Finland. At the age of 24, I work as a product manager building smart homes helping physically challenged people live an independent life. At the age of 27, I lead the customer success team for Scandinavia’s largest satellite TV distributor. At the age of 29, I’m an account manager in a software company specializing in mobile & wireless tech. At the age of 31, I work as director of sales in a multinational software and design agency. At the age of 34, I’m a partner and director in a local software agency in Finland. At the age of 38, I launch a software company in Silicon Valley without any clients or employees in the United States. At the age of 45, I’m the Co-Founder and CEO of one of the most promising construction tech startups in the U.S. → This list came up in a recent conversation with a recent grad employee and I wanted to share it because: …we all have many careers behind us  …most of us have many careers ahead of us …what you do today will make you smarter at the next thing you do …the rollercoaster ups&downs that will make you puke will also make you stronger at the next thing you do Here’s my advice. Don’t: …get lost in career planning …get stuck at a job that doesn’t feel fulfilling …stick with people who try to limit your potential  Instead: …be open for opportunities …stay brave, kind and curious  …keep starting, doing, failing and learning Take it at your own pace; it’s your path and it’s a fun one. 💚 Like & Repost if you agree.
