In Florida, high school graduation requirement includes a 1/2 credit course in Personal Financial Literacy (Personal Finance). This legislation signed by the Governor in 2022 was advocated by the Financial Planning Association of Florida Council for over six years. During that time, more state legislatures mandated that requirement and today, by this report, more than 25 states have joined Florida. Here's the research report: file:///C:/Users/Owner/Downloads/FPA%20Financial%20literacy%20research%20NGPF_Annual_Report_2024%20(1).pdf

A busy bee who is passionate about helping people, connecting others, making a difference, health, wellness, and lifelong learning.
The last day of April is here and with that, #NationalFinancialLiteracyMonth comes to a close. This month I had the pleasure of talking with some awesome groups of Lehigh University students about a few key #financialliteracy concepts — including #budgeting, understanding #credit and #creditcards. At the end of each session, I asked a few “test your knowledge” questions. When I asked “True or False? ‘Financial literacy is fun!’” they humored me with “True” as their response. Between you and I, I would’ve accepted “False” as a response too. As a #youngprofessional who is enthusiastic about financial literacy, I personally find it fun to help other young professionals understand basic financial skills. I recognize that we may have different definitions of “fun,” so I’m okay if you say that financial literacy isn’t fun. All in all, I bet that we can at least agree the consequences from a lack of financial literacy are not very fun; which is why financial education is so important. PSECU offers financial literacy material for all ages — not only during National Financial Literacy Month, but all year long. Check out psecu.com/learn for access to helpful blogs, videos, worksheets, and more.

Massachusetts gets an F. Ouch. Not what we are used to hearing in the education world. 💲 Champlain College in Vermont has a Financial Literacy Center and puts out a report card every year grading each state on their efforts for providing financial literacy to their students. Twenty-nine states got an 'A' or 'B'. Massachusetts got an 'F.' 💲 VHS Learning has a semester-based paced online Personal Finance course where high school students can collaborate with peers from around the world, Personal Finance Flexible which is a self-paced course that can be enrolled in any time of year, and also a credit recovery Personal Finance course. 💲 This is a great option for schools that want to buck the norm and make sure their students have the opportunity to learn the basics of financial literacy, for students who want to position themselves in a place to have control of their money or for parents who think their kids might absorb the teachings better from someone else than them. : ) #personalfinance #onlinelearning #financialliteracy https://lnkd.in/eGUX4bNy
