Introducing Melanie Lalonde! Melanie has been with Mainstreet since 2018 and a valuable part of our commercial team since January 2022. Let's see what Melanie has to say about the life of Commercial & Agricultural Account Manager at Mainstreet...👇 ❓ What are your favourite things about working with members of our community? 🅰 Everyday is different! It's wonderful to drive through our communities and see the impact of our work. I'm grateful to be able to watch our members expand their dreams, grow their businesses, and add to the local economy. ❓ How do you balance the different needs that agricultural and commercial members could have? 🅰 While they operate in different spaces, at the end of the day commercial members and ag members have common goals. They both operate complex businesses and many times outside forces affect their operations. It's important to offer thoughtful advice, assist with their future plans, and provide a smooth lending experience. ❓ What are some current challenges in the ag and commercial space, and how are you helping members navigate them? 🅰 Navigating the next year with open and frequent communication will be key to help members handle inflation and interest rates that will affect their buying power and cash flow. The next year will require businesses to manage their operating expenses, debt load and even perhaps diversify their revenue streams. I'm ready to offer advice in the member's best interest for the times ahead. Looking ahead, Melanie will continue to make a positive impact in our community by staying up-to-date on local issues, provide valuable resources and guidance and most importantly, advocate for our members' best interest. This is an important analysis of the national security threat from the financialisation of farmland and water rights in the USA. The same threats to our national security have emerged in Australia from global capital markets investors floating in a sea of debt assets seeking increased yield from competing against retail investors (people, families, farmers) in traditionally retail asset markets - some with constitutional protection such as young Australians' water rights. The threat we face is ultimately a slavery threat that is older than Christianity. This is the true modern day slavery threat faced by Australians, including from human trafficking and exploitation in our horticulture industry, former senior AFP officers (Peter Dutton, Mick Keelty, anyone associated with the occupation of Australians' constitutionally protected water markets by the Canadian Police & Army Pension Fund), and the Murdoch family/News Corp. They used Coles' milk price waters, sabotage of Murray Goulburn's cashflow forecasts, human trafficking of illegal horticulture workers, sabotage of farmers' Australian banking relationships and other instruments of domestic terrorism to enable the assets of our irrigation farming families (water rights / young Australians' constitutional rights to freedom to be stripped and laundered and sold off overseas. ==> See Murdoch family's Charlie Peel / News Corp trumpets almond sales to India's elite as millions of Australian families suffer food insecurity - https://lnkd.in/gEaHMG5w . ==> NSW inquiry to probe modern slavery risk for regional migrant workers - ABC News https://lnkd.in/gMW7_Gyp . ==> Canadian politicians are refusing to uphold the rule of law - https://lnkd.in/gWHp7THV. 🔍 Did you know? In 2014, a staggering £11.8 billion in revenue was lost due to pest activity across 1053 surveyed companies! The Center for Business and Economic Research conducted a comprehensive survey spanning five countries to understand the global impact of pest infestations on businesses. Covering a diverse range of industries, this study sheds light on the economic repercussions of pest activity, revealing the significant financial strain it places on businesses worldwide, highlighting that in 2014 revenues of the 1053 sampled companies declined by an estimated £11.8 billion because of pest incidences. Pest infestations not only cause direct damage to property and products but also disrupt operations, tarnish reputations, and incur hefty expenses for pest control and mitigation efforts. These findings underscore the critical importance of proactive pest management strategies in safeguarding businesses against financial losses and preserving their long-term viability. If you’re looking to safeguard a business from pest activity in London or Kent, get in touch to find out how we can help. #PestControl #BusinessImpact #EconomicResearch #PestManagement #FinancialLoss #BusinessInsights

Firms are looking at their equity structures to retain and attract top-talent. What we have been seeing is that they are being stretched to reward the top rainmakers and attract them at the same time. This obviously has positive consequences in terms of getting (and keeping) rainmakers and provides a serious incentive to other partners to get there. But there are obvious downfalls to this. It puts pressure on lower level partners to do more for less (or the same). These changes in equity structure can also alter a firm’s culture, potentially causing friction and, if not managed carefully, equity banding can create perceptions of inequity and favouritism. If you feel like you current firms' equity structure does not suit you, maybe it is time to explore other options that will work for you. ✉️ peter.vrljic@deaconsearch.com 📞 0426131622

The farmland market in Great Britain (GB) is experiencing a rise in supply in the first half of 2024, aligning with our predictions from earlier this year. There are still noticeable differences across regions, with varied demand for commercial farmland and interest from buyers with environmental goals. In England, the agricultural transition is progressing, with responses to environmental opportunities becoming more prominent. Scotland and Wales, however, show a mixed buyer landscape and are not as advanced in this transition. Read more here:
