These are two great tips for parents who have cancer.
I moderated a panel this weekend about parenting through cancer and was honored to be on the stage with Jeff Hlaveck, founder of the Pickles Group, and renowned patient advocate Jill Feldman. Both are cancer survivors and parents. What were my takeaways? (1) Control the message. Share with your friends and family how you are speaking with your kids about your cancer, so they are using similar language and approaches. This creates a more cohesive support system for your child. (2) This doesn't ever get easier for children - keep the dialogue open. Through remission or loss, a parent's cancer weighs on them - every single day. Let's keep talking about parental cancer and the importance of caring for kids.

It is breast cancer awareness month; I’m reminded of how important it is to take care of our health and be there for one another. For me, this month is a powerful reminder to prioritize our wellbeing—whether it’s making sure we encourage our loved ones to get regular screenings, or simply lending a listening ear to those who need support. Early detection can truly save lives, but so can compassion, community, and understanding. Let’s continue raising awareness, uplifting survivors, and advocating for those in need. Together, we can inspire change and provide hope. 💪💗 #BreastCancerAwareness #WeAreStrongerTogether #HealthMatters.

The Power of Community. At Crossroads4Hope, we believe in the power of community to help guide people through the challenging journey of a cancer diagnosis. That’s why we created the Health Champion program. We are training people like YOU to become trusted individuals who know exactly where to turn, how to talk to one facing cancer, and how to connect families with the resources they need in real-time. But this work can’t be done alone. We need the strength of our community to help us reach more people, provide more support, and make sure no one has to walk this path alone. This Giving Tuesday, your gift can help fund a Health Champion, making a real difference for someone in need of guidance and hope. Together, we can make sure every person facing cancer has a trusted Champion, a trusted hand to hold along the way. Crossroads4Hope: Taking On Your Cancer Journey. TOGETHER. Join us in making that possible: crossroads4hope.org/GT24 #CR4HGivingTuesday #StrongerTogether #HealthChampions #CommunitySupport #HopeInAction
