Are all financial advisors nerds, socially awkward, or number crunchers? If you watched a few early episodes of Love is Blind Season 6, you will have met Matthew who is a self-described wealth manager. Matthew certainly looks the part (resembles Clark Kent). He also acts like the stereotype. Definitely did not know how to interact with the women (or the men). Pedantic, etc. Had lists of questions but wasn’t prepared to answer any? Some of it was editing but a good chunk just was who he was. Have you felt like this with your financial advisor? A great financial advisor does the following: 1)   Listens first and listens more than he talks. 2)   Only offers solutions after thorough discussions. 3)   Communicates concepts clearly and effectively. 4)   Is your advocate 5) Someone you want at special celebrations. Such a powerful question to ask "Who do we want to be?". And then from there we can dig into the thoughts, feelings, and actions of that version of ourselves. Working with female business owners, we talk a lot about their financial goals and who they want to be financially. And the hard truth is, setting a goal of $500k in revenue or paying yourself six figures is the easy part. The work comes in when we examine the mindset needed to ultimately achieve those results. It takes: Overcoming thoughts like "this is complicated". Changing our actions that cause us to avoid the numbers and financial conversations. Eliminating feelings of guilt or shame around money.
