A 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟵𝟬% 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and much shorter cycle times are the results of the 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹 to manufacture composite structures developed by Fagor Arrasate and TECNALIA Research & Innovation. This innovative preform cell substitutes conventional sources of heating with the application of 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. The direct application of a current on the material to be processed has the advantage of preventing the heating and cooling of molds. Thus, results are obtained much faster and more efficiently than with conventional sources of heating. The quality of preforms obtained by 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is similar to that achieved by conventional hot drape forming technology, and is also a repetitive process that has been validated by impregnating preforms tested under flight conditions.
