🌱 Exciting News for the Hemp and Cannabis Industry! 🌿
The recent statement by the U.S. President on reclassifying marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3 marks a monumental step forward. This reclassification not only acknowledges the significant industrial and medical benefits of cannabis but also paves the way for streamlined usage and regulation.
For those of us in the hemp and cannabis sector, this development promises to unlock new opportunities for research, innovation, and business growth. It’s a recognition of the potential that many of us have long believed in and worked towards.
As the Founder of Indian Hempstore, I am thrilled about the positive impact this will have on our industry. This move will undoubtedly contribute to creating a sustainable lifestyle for people and fostering a better world through the numerous applications of hemp and cannabis.
Here’s to a future where the benefits of hemp and cannabis are fully realized and accessible to all. Let's continue to advocate for sensible policies and push the boundaries of what this incredible plant can offer.

Some quick thoughts on #rescheduling cannabis.
Very important step (of many!) that will remove some restrictions and put it into a much more reasonable category, rather than alongside heroin and meth (which was absolutely ridiculous).
Is it a magic wand to make all the issues in this industry disappear? Of course not.
Still, this has been a long time in the making and is very much overdue. It should lead to a lot more data around the medical benefits/drawbacks of cannabis.
Also have been reading this could open up more FDA involvement, which could increase product safety – with the significant potential drawback of adding even more regulations, cost and complexity to the industry.
We're still not even close to where we should be when it comes to federal cannabis regulation, but at least we're making progress towards a closer goalpost than before.
There's a review period for rescheduling and a massive amount of work to do beyond this single change, but it is still forward progress and should still be seen in a positive light. The next few months/years will be very interesting for the cannabis industry.
We could see more bills like #SAFERBanking change the landscape of cannabis banking/financial regulations (or not). Plus, the country will continue to deal with the reality of legal state-level cannabis programs selling alongside the abundance of semi-legal, maybe-tested-maybe-not products on the nation-wide market.
This is especially evident in NYC still where I can go to 20 bodegas and buy whatever cannabis products I want from an unlicensed vendor before I would come close to running across an actual, licensed dispensary.
Hopefully should change as more open up (just tried out the first in Williamsburg!) but just frustrating to see as someone who has worked in the industry for several years now.
Other things: interstate transport & the continued conflicts between state and federal law – lots to figure out there.
Thoughts?

BREAKING: "US drug control agency will move to reclassify marijuana in a historic shift, AP sources say"
It has happened, oh my god. After years of the #cannabisindustry being unfairly taxed, tackling market uncertainties compounded by undue regulatory and financial restrains, we see the monumental shift people were hoping for.
Reclassifying, what does that actually mean to business?
- Cannabis businesses will be taxed on net income, not top line revenue, ie exponential growth in profitability with this one change
- Enables federal research and studies solidifying and quantifying the many cannabis benefits most consumers already know to be true
THIS DOES NOT free up or increase access to banking services, which would be possible through the passage of SAFE Banking Bill in Congress, but is an immense catalyst in the right direction for the cannabis industry.

In a recent discovery, scientists have discovered a trend- cannabis users exercise as much as non-users, challenging stereotypes. The University of Texas & Ohio University research focuses on recognizing cannabis's impact on exercise habits.
The researchers surveyed 2,591 U.S. adults who either consume cannabis or use e-cigarettes.
"Though we find some evidence that marijuana users walk for exercise more than even non-users, this result represents a trend more than a significant association." - Excerpt of the study, via Preventative Medicine Reports.

In a notable development, federal documents are advocating for the reclassification of cannabis to Schedule III, prompting discussions on the intricate interplay between regulations and the expanding cannabis industry. Supporters view this as a positive step, anticipating benefits for cannabis entrepreneurs, scientists, and lobbyists, especially in terms of eased restrictions on cannabis medicine, research, and banking. On the contrary, skeptics fear it might lead to pharmaceutical dominance. The ongoing debate involves voices advocating for deregulation as a preferred alternative. What are your insights on navigating this complex intersection of policy, industry, and societal dynamics?
