An incredibly powerful video of the effects of making assumptions within the disability community! It's a lesson we continue to learn at JJRT - that assumptions create your reality and so, we practice to never assume - we build on capabilities and we empower! ❤️❤️ https://lnkd.in/gA-VYeMT
Negative assumptions are extremely limiting. Instead of assuming limitations, Madison Tevlin offers a suggestion: #AssumeThatICan 👏 🎥: CoorDown | By Miss RepresentationFacebook

We believe it's an integral part of our mission to put young people's voices at the heart of everything we do. That's why we created Speak Out! - a focus group for young people to feedback on Step by Step services and talk about changes they would like to see. We've already implemented several of their suggestions and can't wait to hear what they come up with next! #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek #MyVoiceMatters

How I wish I’d seen this before I escaped the abuse. This is the reality of post separation abuse. Disgracefully, currently, most systems - including the justice system - collude with the perpetrator of abuse. This must stop. There are no accountability measures for systems of abuse because they are patriarchal by design. Patriachs do not take responsibility. Our systems are built with ingrained misogyny due to their patriarchal heritage. There is no way to “undo” patriarchal systems. It’s like trying to run an electric car with petrol. Just as we need to rebuild infrastructure to support clean, safe energy, we must rebuild patriachal structures for a post hierarchical, post patriarchal society. We must rebuild systems with feminist principles centred on safety, equality, respect, compassion and human dignity. I don’t believe this is possible under our two party system of government. This too must change. Imagine if “the people” of the country came before “the party” and political donations priorities. #abolishfamilycourt #HowDareShe #VictimSurvivorVoice #Sparkt #equality #respect #CEDAW
🤩 NEW RESOURCE KLAXON! 🤩 Super excited to share this Counter-Parenting video and resource pack we've been working on at Own My Life (The Women's Liberation Collective)! It's freely available on our website and is for women (and those who love them) who are dealing with a partner or ex who is using the children as a weapon. So many abusive men are using their children to control their partner or ex, and it is a demoralising and exhausting situation for women. The video gives some broad principles for dealing with this and the resource pack provides support materials to help women to reflect on how to apply the principles to their own life. Alongside directly resourcing women, we hope it is a really helpful resource for those working with women in a paid or voluntary capacity, and also for family, friends, colleagues and others who care about women. 💜 Please do share the video and the wider resources here: https://lnkd.in/enP2cP6u! https://lnkd.in/en_YF98z
