Bilingual Executive-Director Office Management | Purpose and People - driven leader | Embracing different cultures for a common goal
Manuel Alejandro Sánchez Dominguez is 22 years old, he’s studying Industrial Engineering, he’s an intern at Hyperion Materials & Technologies Mexico Site since last June 2023, although he has been at Hyperion less than a year, he has been in different areas learning from each one. He started his internship program at the Procurement department where he mainly learned administrative work. He loves to be exposed to different skills and due to his daily activities and challenges of the area, he proactively decided to study advanced excel to better perform his activities. He made a project with Mauricio Esquivel (Manufacturing Support) about a database requested by Blasen Archibald (Director, Sourcing & Procurement) and he used the skills from his studies. One important phrase he told me is “I’m eager to learn”. After few months, the department took the decision to finish the program with Manuel. He proactively discussed with Mexico Managing Director possible alternatives to support other Site initiatives and asked for an opportunity in a different area. It was an easy decision to ask Manuel to rejoin the company due to the urgent need for an initiative in production where we could avoid the learning curve and take advantage of Manuel's abilities and skills. Manuel rejoined the company after a couple of weeks, and we were all happily surprised about having him back. At his return, he supported the production area, and he started to contribute to a key manufacturing project led by Jesus Rueda (Production Supervisor) and Eduardo Hernandez (Production Value Stream Manager). The project consisted in doing an assessment and classifying the operators by their production skills where he was able to learn about Carbide Rods and Wear Parts products manufacturing and this project continues to this day creating a high impact in the organization. Then, Eduardo Hernández asked him to help our Finish Goods Warehouse supporting our sales organization where he was glad to help due to his curiosity to learn more and ability to build relationships. As a matter of fact, Manuel would like to focus on Logistics function once he concludes his major education. Finally, he mentioned that “He’s very grateful for the second chance provided to him, that this second chance made a significant difference to his experience in the company and to take the opportunity to improve his performance in his job. He appreciates that we are creating a culture where we listen to our team members, and we provide opportunities to be successful." We need to continue cultivating a culture where we embrace more people like him, eager to learn and curious to encounter new challenges. We need to understand that the company’s success is a combination of different functions ability to deliver as one single team. What remains for me to say is that a person with good leadership and direction can successfully develop his/her career. #internship #leadership #corevalues

Just ask Belle, our Strategic Research Intern! 👋 "I am currently working on three different projects for the Strategic Research team. The first one is a sustainability survey for all corporate Sheetz employees; the goal of this research is to gain feedback to improve our current sustainability practices. I am also working on a food and beverage promotional sign kit survey, which was sent to 300 store managers to gain insight and make revisions on the sign printing, delivery, and installation process. Lastly, I am doing in-person interviews with Sheetz employees who own electric vehicles to document and understand the full charging experience at a Sheetz location, and to identify gaps in the consumer experience. On top of this work, I am creating a periphery infographic weekly, which is sent to Directors, the Business Insights team, the Planning team, and more. The experience and insight that I have learned throughout my time so far with Sheetz is invaluable. I have gained more experience conducting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative research in a professional setting. This was such a rewarding opportunity to see how the research I managed was able to answer questions for other departments. I have also had the opportunity to meet with other departments to gain exposure to other parts of the company." #NationalInternDay
