Only two days left until we fly to Lyon with the Hungarian national team for the WorldSkills Championship! In 21 professions, 25 young competitors aged 18-22 will showcase their skills, whether as landscape gardeners, electricians, web developers, or carpenters, proving that Hungarian professionals are among the world's best. It’s an incredible honor for us that, for the fourth time, coaches of Y2Y - Gábor Jasper PCC, Fanni Makrai and me - are leading the Hungarian team as team leaders. We are responsible for the mental preparation, from the selection process all the way to the very end of the four-day competition (and of course, the flight home after the closing party - you can imagine! 🙂). This year, Lyon is hosting the event, and they’ve been preparing for four full years. 1,500 competitors from 65 countries will compete, and the scale of the event is reflected in the fact that the 16,000-seat LDLC Arena is sold out for the opening ceremony - but there are still a couple of seats left for the closing ceremony, which will be held in a 59,000-seat venue 🙂 Between the opening and closing ceremonies is the competition itself, taking place at Eurexpo - so, just like in previous years, we can expect a daily half-marathon's worth of steps if we want to check in on all of our competitors at least four times a day :) Neuroscientists still debate whether the "flow experience" truly exists. We don't know because we’re not neuroscientists. But what we do know is that these ten days, just like previous competitions, will definitely be a flow experience for all of us. Who doesn't love an international comparison? Here's an interesting one I heard from the Australian delegation in Lyon at WorldSkills 20024 last week... Last year there were 4.5 million enrolments in Australia in vocational, education and training courses. Australia has a population of just 26 million people – that is quite some going. How has that appetite and ambition for skills been driven? Whilst there is a well-established system of TAFE Colleges and HEIs, 76% of that provision is delivered by private training providers. Private training providers whether here or in Australia have the unique ability to be our skills systems' market makers. If as a country we are going for growth let's embrace rather than stifle that unique ability.  #SkillsMeansGrowth #ITPs AELP
