Get Your Kicks on Route 66! June 27, 1985: Route 66 was officially decertified. Known as the "Main Street of America," Route 66 connected communities, fostered economic #growth, and symbolized the spirit of #exploration and #adventure. Just as Route 66 served as a crucial link between places, #talentdevelopment serves as the vital connector within our organizations. Here are a few parallels between this historic route & our journey in nurturing #talent: 1.) Pathways to #Success: Route 66 provided a clear path across the country, much like structured #development programs guide employees on their career paths. 2.) Scenic Detours: The road offered numerous #opportunities for detours and #exploration, reminding us that non-linear #careerpaths and diverse #experiences enrich professional #growth. 3.) Community & Connection: Route 66 linked towns and cities, fostering a sense of #community. Similarly, fostering a connected and #collaborative environment in the workplace enhances #learning and #innovation. 4.) Adapt to #Change: The evolution of Route 66 reflects the need to #adapt to changing times. #Continuouslearning and skill #development are essential for staying relevant in our fast-paced world. As we remember Route 66, let’s also celebrate the journey of #talentdevelopment in our organizations. By investing in our #people and creating pathways for #growth, we pave the way for a brighter #future.

Life with my wife and son has taught me one powerful lesson: nothing is impossible. Charlotte, who lives her life in an electric wheelchair due to tetraplegia, and our son Harry, who has cerebral palsy and NF1, have inspired us to embark on Project Paravan, a journey to transform our bus into an adapted campervan that meets our family’s unique needs. What began as a dream grew into something much bigger. After countless revisions and learning from each setback, Project Paravan evolved with every step. And each obstacle? A lesson in persistence and adaptation, just like in business. Over the past 25 years, I've come to see that success is rarely a straight line. Just as with Project Paravan, running a business involves continuous learning, adjusting, and pushing forward despite setbacks. It’s about navigating challenges and making sure you come out stronger on the other side. The true progress happens in those moments of recalibration, where each step forward teaches something new. Luckily, we weren’t alone. Shred & Butta shared our vision from the very beginning, embodying the same attitude that’s been key throughout my career. They’ve been there every step of the way, reminding me that resilience is what drives long-term success, whether in life or business. The highlight? George Clarke and his Amazing Spaces team capturing our story on film. With any luck, it will air in early 2025, but this isn’t just about adapting a bus, it’s about how this journey mirrors the determination required in both business and life. For Charlotte, Project Paravan means more independence. For Harry, it means new adventures. And for me, it’s a powerful reminder that with the right mindset, anything is possible. Every challenge we’ve faced has only strengthened our resolve to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough the road ahead. When you believe in something enough, you can make it happen, whether that’s creating freedom for your family or pursuing your wildest dreams. If this journey has taught me anything, it’s that success is born from resilience, passion, and a refusal to give up. And I carry that belief into everything I do. #NeverGiveUp #ProjectParavan #FamilyJourney #AmazingSpaces #ShredAndButta #SuccessThroughStruggle #NothingIsImpossible #NeverGiveUp #ProjectParavan #FamilyJourney #AmazingSpaces #ShredAndButta #SuccessThroughStruggle #BusinessParallels #NothingIsImpossible

Have you ever driven with kids in the car? It never fails: Whether it’s a 10-minute commute across town or a 10-day road trip across the country, they will ask: “Are we there yet?” “Are we there yet?” “Are we there yet?” The other day, I wrote about how sometimes we need to eschew strategy so we can just get on with it—so we can do the work. But that doesn’t mean we don’t still need to flip on the GPS. Our fellow travelers may not need a street-by-street roadmap, but they’d benefit from getting some guideposts to look out for along the way. Even on a short trip, it helps to say: “First, we’re going to pass the McDonalds, and then you’ll see the park. We’ll pass your school next, and then we’ll be at your friend’s house!” I recently helped a CEO client navigate this very predicament. He’s a visionary with big-picture, long-term clarity, but he struggles with how to guide his team through the immediate, shorter-term needs of his company. He could tell them about where they’d end up at the end of their long, cross-country journey, and he could even highlight a few national landmarks they’d see during their travels, but he didn’t think they needed to know about their next hotel stay or upcoming pit stops. Those matter just as much, if not more, to the ones on the ride with you. 🗺️ When it comes to your drive, what do you struggle with mapping out more: the short-term or the long-term?
