Seriously dough, don't touch the muffins.
This is the sign at the local diner in my neighborhood, that sits next to the muffin display. They change up the clever wording every so often, and it's pretty fun.
Ok, so let me paint the picture for you.
The muffins are displayed on a two tiered tray, and they are at the hostess stand/cash register, where everyone goes to get a table, and pays their bill. They are right next to the pens to sign your receipt, and they are eye/face level to customers... very close to everyone's faces. Uncovered. The little chalk board don't touch sign is next to the stand.
I commented on the sign to the hostess, saying how clever it was. Then, of course, I asked, "Does anyone ever touch the muffins??"
I mean, I gotta know.
She replied, "Oh yes, there was a lady the other day who touched one - she didn't see the sign and she thought it was fake."
My husband asked, "Did you make her buy it?"
The hostess said, "Oh yeah, she had to buy it."
What say you?
If someone touches a muffin, by accident, are they obligated to pay for the muffin? Or, should the business chalk it up to an accident, and let the $3 go?
Consider the long-term outcome - customer service and repeat business? Or consider everyone forewarned?
