10 Reasons Helping Professionals Like Educators Are Natural Leaders - Whether They Know It or Not By Michael Kaufman, MSW, PhD It’s been a long-held assumption in the U.S. workplace that you’re either a service-oriented professional or a business-minded professional—either a “do-gooder” dedicated to social causes or someone more interested in earning a good living as you climb the corporate ladder. I don’t buy into that assumption, not only because my own career trajectory disproves it, but because some of the most talented and effectual leaders I’ve seen have started out as boots-on-the-ground helping professionals who later took their particular aptitudes and abilities and applied them to the highest tiers of leadership in the organizations they serve. interesting read about changes in thinking about leadership development.
“Most of all, Crotonville represented a huge commitment from GE’s top leadership that systematic leadership development, talent management and career development made ample business sense and provided significant return on investment. After all, the underlying principle was that leaders helped build culture and culture was in turn shaped by leaders willing to pay it forward..." Crotonville Alumni #crotonvillealumni Vikram Cardozo

Best training session in my wawa career!
My bucket is full – in fact it’s overflowing! I just spent two days with an amazing cohort of General Managers and newly promoted Area Supervisors co-facilitating the inaugural session of Wawa, Inc.’s Multi-Unit Leadership Challenge – an immersive program that gives rising stars a chance to network and participate in work like simulations that mirror many of the challenges they will face as they continue their leadership journey. Together we tackled issues ranging from Leading from a Distance and Conducting a Store Visit to Talent Management and Development of Others. These leaders left with a fresh perspective on their current business and insight into the next level. A special thanks to Karen Indenbom, Vanessa Riggi-Cimino, Lynna K., Sam Casey, & Julie H. This was hands down the BEST content we have ever had for this level of leadership and I look forward to seeing what all of them do for themselves, each other, and this magical company we call Wawa.
