... from ugly duckling to beautiful swan: the power of prefab renovation 🏗 In 17 working days the building was transformed from cold soviet building into warm modern building. Insulated facade area is 2200 m2 so the average speed was ~130 m2 per day. Work was done from Nov 22 to Dec 15, in the middle of our nordic winter, meaning this method can be used all around the year. Finishing works (final touch on the facade, new balconies, all internal and technical works) took total of 5 months. There are 60 apartments in this building. There is always a retaining wall in each of my designs. It’s inherent to my niche when designing swimming pools and landscapes on slopes and/or challenging blocks. Although it’s ideal to minimise retaining, designing pools on slopes often requires retaining walls to manage the significant elevation changes. Retaining structures provide essential support, ensuring stability and preventing soil erosion around the pool area. In many cases, retaining is necessary to create safe, usable spaces and maintain the structural integrity of both the pool and surrounding landscape.
