Once Workday goes live, it’s not uncommon for businesses to lose sight of thier strategic roadmap, assuming one has already been put in place… 🛣️ The business knows Workday offers so many useful and impactful business processes and efficiencies. But without a point of contact, who is the authority for change in Workday, the probability of entering the Desert & Wilderness stages of implementation increases dramatically and an inevitable increase in costs. For example, you use a costly external partner to manage the absence module. This is the most extensive areas of management in Workday which covers over 40 business processes. You should have an Absence Product Owner or HRIS Specialist in-house. Why don’t you? There is no authority to manage this decision. Create a team of people from Finance, IT, HR, and Senior Stakeholders, to help maintain control of Workday and make strategic system decisions. You would call this team “The Workday Change Approval Board” or “The Global System Design Authority”. Having this structure of authority creates a culture of Workday adoption, maintenance, and improvement. This will change teams working in isolation to working in collaboration with the bigger picture of keeping Workday healthy and delivering on the digital transformation journey.
