Make your guerrilla war part of the grand political cause. It is vital to lay plans for an invasion. The acquisition of this vast territory to the east would make you the ruler of the largest empire in history. Secure the lines of communication and supply. Study the situation from every angle. Let your army be self sufficient as possible,but given its size, it will require incredible planning and organization. You need battles as a chance to put your genius in play. Having superior discipline and fighting spirit. A soldier can endure almost anything except the expectation of a battle that never comes and a tension that is never relieved. "Great Plains-spoken" and far-ranging interview of two Japan-hands on where the U.S.-Japan relationship stands today and its remarkable trajectory over the last 80 years to get here. Trade, historical, and cultural links all get a touch. It was also super to have both Kirk Zeller, DBA and Joshua Walker at our NAJAS conference in Portland, OR a few weeks ago. As an aside, several of their bi-national relationship illustrations of post-war developments underscore why NAJAS national organization needs a Japan-America society in the State of Nebraska, where Kirk and show host Trent Loos have roots -- and where Honorary Consul Andrew Schilling does yeoman's work as relationship booster. We have almost 40 member societies, but notable gaps in the U.S. heartland, for a relationship that is about far more than coastal interests. It is something that NAJAS and others have also noted when looking at the relationship the United States and Japan enjoy in fields from livestock to rolling stock and well beyond.
