Last week, I had the honor of presenting recent developments in the tort law of the European Union at the 23rd Annual Conference on European Tort Law in Vienna, an event that beckoned tort law connoisseurs, colleagues and friends from across the globe to delve into the latest developments within this critical field.
Held in the prestigious Festive Hall of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the conference served as a melting pot of ideas and insights, with numerous reports on significant tort law developments across Europe in 2023.
A highlight of the conference was the dedicated session on the new Product Liability Directive. Highly esteemed speakers provided deep dives into various aspects of the directive. From outlining the new product liability regime to economic analysis and legal assessments, their presentations offered a comprehensive overview that underscored the directive's implications for practitioners and academics alike.
For more comprehensive insights and detailed reports on the topics discussed at the conference, including the new Product Liability Directive, the Yearbook on European Tort Law and the Journal on European Tort Law will feature extensive coverage. These publications are pivotal resources for anyone keen on delving deeper into the intricacies of European tort law and the significant developments discussed at the conference.
