This month marks a celebration of our three Folks: Mark Fjelsted, Gian Hill, and Moyosoreoluwa Akinola! Mark has worked at Folklore for three years as an Executive Director of Finance, but did you know he worked with the team four years before joining? His exceptional eye for detail in financial strategy and business planning is impeccable! Over the past three years, Gian, our account director, has been valuable in managing client projects and relationships. She is fearless yet able to lead with kindness. Did we mention that she won Folk of the Year in 2022? Moyo has been an important leader of our project management team for over a year. She consistently demonstrates outstanding organizational skills, ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently. Her execution has significantly contributed to our team's success. There’s 1️⃣ characteristic I value most in people. And here it is.... 🎯 Do they have an internal locus of control? ✅ Do they take responsibility for their actions and their team? ❌ Or do they look for someone to blame as soon as something goes wrong? ✅ Are they able to celebrate the victories? ❌ Or do they credit circumstance for their success? ✅ Someone with an internal locus of control realizes when they have gaps in their knowledge... so they go learn! ❌ Those who have an external locus of control don't see the need. ✅ Those with an internal locus of control are able to share the credit because they know what they've accomplished. ❌ Those with an external locus of control have to be constantly affirmed. ✅ When things go badly, the person with an internal locus of control does something to fix it. ❌ The person with an external locus sits there and complains. Am I being reductionistic? Am I oversimplifying it? I don't think so. The contrast is stark. The winner is clear. Be the winner.
