Endowed with vast forests and more than 8% of the world’s biodiversity, “India is well-placed to export agricultural commodities to sustainable markets that have clear requirements on issues such as deforestation,” highlight Dr. Jayahari KM and Alex Andreoli in a new Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) blog. However, to truly harness the opportunity, companies exporting Indian agricultural goods should “invest in strengthening the traceability of their products and scaling inclusive partnerships with farmers.” Doing so will place companies in a stronger position when new climate and nature regulations come into force, build the resilience of their supply chains, and support the development of sustainable, prosperous and inclusive rural livelihoods in India.
