Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Specialist, Convener SHEvaluators, Sec Gen Nigerian Association of Evaluators,
#2023in12Posts #July2023 In July 2023, I conducted a Post-Distribution Impact Assessment of Dignity Kits distributed to Gender-Based Violence (#gbv) survivors and at-risk vulnerable community women and girls in #Damaturu and #Yusufari LGAs of Yobe state. The project had been implemented by AFRYDEV with funding from the Nigerian Humanitarian Fund. Through the assessment I and my team evaluated the satisfaction of beneficiaries with the distributed items, appropriateness of distributed items, effectiveness of the distribution process, identified challenges and made recommendations for improvements in future interventions. Same July, I facilitated The NGO Expert Dialogue Webinar Series that was organized by the Nigeria INGO Forum under the Promoting Local Response Capacity and Partnership (PLRCAP NGOHUB) for their partners in Nigeria. As an ardent systems thinker, I spoke on “NGO System Thinking: Data and Strategic Direction”. If you do not yet know this series and are drawn toward localization, you should check out and be a part of the work that the PLRCAP team are doing at https://lnkd.in/dEb2iQYG Meanwhile, here’s a snippet of what I shared at the webinar: Why Systems thinking? ⚙ 💭 📢 “Nothing is separate. Everything is connected” 🕸 🖇 💭 🔊 "Data-driven decision-making lies at the heart of NGO System Thinking, enabling organizations to make informed choices based on reliable evidence." NGO System Thinking plays a vital role in data-driven decision-making for strategic direction within NGOs. It is an approach that recognizes the interconnectedness and complexity of NGOs and their operating environments. By incorporating system thinking principles into their processes, NGOs can better understand the dynamics, interdependencies, and feedback loops that shape their work. One key aspect of NGO System Thinking is the integration of data-driven decision-making. Data serves as a critical input for understanding the context, identifying needs, and measuring progress towards desired outcomes. By leveraging data, NGOs can make informed choices based on reliable evidence and insights.

In this panel discussion yesterday around #foodsecurity in Africa, Wilson Irungu, Fund Grants Lead, explained how high-growth potential SMEs, if well supported financially and with other interventions, can play a significant part in building resilient food systems in Africa. SMEs like these, that are in a position to create work opportunities for young people at scale can apply to the Agribusiness Challenge Fund now open. Visit www.frp.org #MAA24
