Let's dive into the concept of "CLEAN LABELS" in the food industry🍊🥑. Did you know that the term “CLEAN LABEL” is not a scientific term, but one driven by consumers? It is now widely accepted by the Food Industry and regulatory bodies to help keep things simplified. What exactly does it mean to have a "CLEAN LABEL", when we talk food🤔? In layman terms, it's about keeping things simple, honest, and easy to understand! It's about ✅ using real, recognizable ingredients and ❌ avoiding unnecessary additives, chemicals, preservatives and artificial flavors or colors. This culture estimates the growth of clean label ingredients such as natural flavors/colors/sweeteners, fruit and vegetable ingredients, flour etc. Clean labels empower consumers 🤝to make informed choices about the foods they consume, fostering trust and loyalty in the process. What is shelf life? Shelf life refers to the length of time a product can be stored before it begins to deteriorate in quality, safety, or effectiveness. During this period, the product is expected to remain suitable for consumption or use. In my experience working with both long and short shelf life food products, each type presents unique advantages and challenges due to differences in food production. Long shelf life items benefit from reduced waste and broader distribution but often require more preservatives and complex packaging, which can compromise freshness. On the other hand, short shelf life products offer fresh, natural flavors with fewer additives but require more frequent production and rapid turnover, increasing the potential for waste. Balancing these factors is crucial in the food industry to meet consumer needs while optimizing production efficiency.
