Sitaram K. writes: The Journey and Vision of an Ecopreneur Growing up in a family rooted in a rustic setting, my early interest in agriculture and providing good food to a large section of society was naturally nurtured. After earning a Master’s in microbiology, I spent ten successful years in the pharmaceutical sector, excelling in team building, product management, and sales. My career growth and numerous accolades were driven by my ability to manage and motivate people effectively. Despite enjoying my work, a deep-seated passion for agri-biodiversity and providing healthy, convenient food led me to my true calling. The rise in lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases due to unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles is a global challenge, impacting even the productive 30+ age group. This realization underscored the importance of healthy, accessible food. I aim to offer diverse, convenient healthy food choices while supporting farmers' livelihoods. These products represent a commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable rural impact, promising social welfare, purity, and high quality. I am dedicated to developing the future of food, empowering over 1350 rural and tribal women farmers, and advancing ecological entrepreneurship. https://lnkd.in/e4FsKzHX

In the FICCI Scientific Symposium on 'Processed Foods for Purpose', Anita Praveen, the secretary of Ministry of Food Processing highlighted the following points: 1️⃣We have already reached high levels of growth with the resources we have and now the focus needs to shift towards the R&D to take this sector to next level. 2️⃣Food Processing sector is one of the large investment generators for the Micro and Small sector and has the potential to bring more private investments. 3️⃣The sector has advantages of high raw materials availability at cheaper rate, high consumer demands both in domestic and international markets. 4️⃣A need for comprehensive waste management strategies at every stage from farm to fork in order to address the issue of food wastage. 5️⃣To boost exports, closer collaborations between large industries and smaller units with emphasis on quality control and maintenance of robust supply chain needs to be established. 6️⃣The industry should also focus on educating consumers. They must know what they are consuming and quality food production is the responsibility of the industry. 7️⃣The Indian agriculture sector is witnessing a robust growth with record levels of production and Food Processing sector has become one of the priority sectors for growth.

I applaud the recent initiative by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (#FSSAI) to address chemical contamination in agricultural raw materials. This is a significant step forward for both consumers and the #agriculture sector. By enforcing Maximum Residue Levels (#MRLs) and encouraging self-compliance among Food Business Organizations (#FBOs), the focus is shifting towards safer and more sustainable agricultural practices. Chemical residues in #crops, fruits, and spices have long been a concern, leading to health risks and financial setbacks for farmers and food processors alike. The push for regular audits, education on pesticide use, and accurate labeling will not only safeguard consumers but also protect the agricultural industry from export rejections and penalties. #FSSAI’s formation of a committee with representatives from various ministries to tackle this issue highlights a collaborative approach to improving #foodsafety. By promoting transparency and compliance at the farm gate, the initiative ensures that only safe, high-quality produce reaches consumers. For the agriculture sector, this initiative fosters a culture of responsibility and #sustainability, ultimately leading to better market access, higher quality exports, and improved trust among consumers. It’s a win-win for all stakeholders. #Agriculture #FoodSafety #Sustainability #FSSAI
