Why Does the Jakarta Government Owned A Beer Company? 🍺 Under President Soekarno's Guided Democracy (1957-1966), the Indonesian government nationalized Dutch-controlled businesses, including Royal Dutch Shell (Shell), Deli Plantations, and breweries producing beers like Anker and The HEINEKEN Company. These industries were brought under state control. Later, the Jakarta government was offered a large stake in a brewery, and beer played a crucial role in the city's development. Governor Ali Sadikin leveraged the city's vibrant nightlife—casinos, nightclubs, and bars—to generate significant tax revenue, with beer at the heart of this strategy. Today, the beer legacy lives on, albeit in a smaller capacity, continuing to shape Jakarta’s history and economy. #indonesia #jakarta #beer #bisnis #history

Bakso Tulang Rusuk (Iga = Beef Ribs) Malaysian do love Indonesian Menu. It’s been a week since we introduced Bakso Tulang Rusuk to our customer. For those who craving Bakso Bandung Indonesia 🇮🇩, now you can have it in Kota Warisan, Sepang Malaysia. How do we prepare our Bakso Soup? 1. We boiled the Ribs for 5 hours (traditional boiling technique) with 8 spices. 2. The meatballs are from FIGO’s Malaysian brand, since it’s JAKIM HALAL Certified product and taste good as well. You may get it from here : www.figofoods.com.my 3. We used Vit’s HALAL Instant Noodles. The texture of the noodles is fine and the quality trusted since 1980. You may get Vit’s product from here : www.vitsnoodles.com . . . Bakso is the best food to eat especially when you lost your appetite due to high fever and running nose. The spices in Bakso Soup work as an appetite booster too. Melati Hatta #restaurateur #foodasmedicine #foodbusiness

Indonesia, a land of diverse cultures and rich culinary traditions, boasts a wide array of mouthwatering dishes that have captured the hearts (and taste buds) of people within and beyond its borders. Among these delectable offerings, Nasi Padang stands as a culinary masterpiece that has garnered significant popularity. According to Muniyo Quick Polling, a remarkable 42% of 339 people surveyed have chosen Nasi Padang as their most favorite Indonesian food. Nasi Padang hails from the province of West Sumatra. Named after the provincial capital, Padang, this dish is a celebration of the Minangkabau culture, renowned for its rich history and distinctive cuisine. However, the name “Padang” was more than just a culinary label. It was a conscious choice to adopt a less conspicuous identity during the tumultuous period of the PRRI, a separatist movement in Sumatra, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The government’s response to the rebellion was harsh and repressive, leading to the suppression of Minangkabau identity. Hence, the substitution of the ethnic name, Minangkabau, with Padang (bbc.com). Today, Nasi Padang has evolved into a global culinary sensation, celebrated for its bold and fiery flavors. Nasi Padang is not just a meal. It’s a grand feast presented on a single plate. At its core, it consists of steamed rice, gulai, and sambal, served with a variety of mouthwatering side dishes. What sets Nasi Padang apart is its incredible diversity. You can expect an assortment of proteins, vegetables, and condiment, all brimming with unique flavor. What are your favorite Nasi Padang’s side dishes? Share your opinion down below!
