Do you fancy some carcinogenic #MineralOils or #MOAH in your food? Do you think it is up to a consumer group like foodwatch to monitor their presence in the products of the supermarket shelves and organise recalls ourselves when they happen to be present? If you answered no to both questions, then consider supporting our campaign to end mineral oil contamination in food, as we are reaching the last final stretch! After 9 years of product testing and campaigning, the #EUCommission and Member States are finally considering binding regulation to stop mineral oils contamination and could already discuss a proposal in June! We know that several industry sectors are lobbying to get exemptions or longer transition periods and we need to stay mobilised to prevent them from hijacking the process! What can you do? ✅Help us keep the pressure on EU decision-makers by signing our petition and sharing it widely within your network! https://lnkd.in/d6uRTMX6 ✅Find out more about the history of our campaign here: https://lnkd.in/dbc3TZxG and our previous product recalls here: https://lnkd.in/dGBChRQD

Coffee is grown in more than 50 countries. It is one of the most important commodities and the variety of coffee products on offer is increasing in line with demand. It is therefore important to ensure a consistently high product quality. Coffee is an agricultural product that often travels long distances. Mycotoxins and contaminants, as well as pesticide residues or microbial contamination, can occur along the value chain. In addition to industrial analyses such as caffeine and chlorogenic acid, our coffee portfolio includes sensory analysis, authenticity testing (Arabica/Robusta), sampling, food law advice and national and international labelling testing. #coffee #analysis #eurofins #foodtechnology

AOECS seeks clarification from the European Commission on a proposed change in Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008. This is a key piece of legislation within the European Union that governs the use of food additives (e.g. that can replace gluten). AOECS accepts the suggested change, but the main concern is if the current rules remain unchanged despite a new categorization.

Head of scientific department chez Nutraveris - A FoodChain ID Company / Senior expert in food ingredient authorization Novel food / Health claim / Food additif / Food enzyme / GRAS / NDI / Food supplement / Food safety
𝗢𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱. A new opinion has been published following a consultation process under Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283, concerning oat hull syrup obtained by acid hydrolysis. Although acid hydrolysis is a common method for producing sugar syrup, there is no history of consumption of sugar syrup derived from oat hulls. Therefore, the Finnish Food Authority has classified oat hull syrup as novel. This opinion underscores that the novel food status must consider both the raw material and the process. Even if both are not novel separately, their combination can be considered novel if the process was not applied to the raw material before May 1997. ▶ https://lnkd.in/ewiEkV6U #NovelFood #OatHullSyrup #FoodRegulation #EUCompliance

On same day ie 21-May -2024, this news got published "One in three households willing to stop using MDH, Everest spices, 58% lack confidence in food regulators like FSSAI" https://lnkd.in/gV55hbNG 4.
