Footprints Community’s Post

What’s involved with being a visitor to an older person? ACVVS participants visit an older person once a fortnight and choose what they would like to do together. Sometimes people like to: - Enjoy a chat and cup of tea - Take a walk together - Work on a hobby together or - Watch a movie. Friendship and companionship have a positive impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing, and help to increase connectedness to local communities. Be part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), a FREE Government-funded service for older people. Make an impact in your local community. Become a volunteer today. • Photograph of an older woman in a chair, wearing a white cardigan and hugging a pale mauve blanket. Crouched beside her is a smiling younger woman resting her arms on the arm of the chair. Along the left hand side is a white strip with the words, Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. Can you spare one hour a fortnight? At the bottom is the ACVVS logo and the Footprints Community Logo.

This is a great program, I can thoroughly recommend it. I catch up with a retired Navy Medic who has some fascinating stories. We try and catch up for a coffee a couple of times each month.👍
