Sometimes dreaming big works! When I was first negotiating with Forbes to buy the right to Forbes Australia I remember sharing my vision of making the the covers come to life.. I was very determined to run events with the covers of the magazine as the headline speaker. My belief was that the story in the magazine of 1000 or so words would be impactful but to interview the cover on stage would be inspiring to the next generation of emerging leaders. My plan was big and bold! But… the Forbes Executives didn’t think it would work.. they never discouraged me for trying but said don’t build you model around it. I was persistent and explained that if do what everyone else in the industry does then we wouldn’t have as big an impact as we possibly could. For me.. the possibility of it was worth the risk! I’m excited to share that our best performing issue of Forbes Australia has been Harry Triguboff on it.. and Harry is headlining out Icons and Investors Summit next week in Sydney. Pleased to say every cover we have had over the last 12 issues has been on our Forbes Stages.. or are coming up in future events.. Those events have had 1000’s of people over the last 18mths.. 📣 I agree with you; the precise statement you made regarding doing business is accurate. We must have a visionary plan and be willing to take risks while also taking steps to mitigate those risks. I am aware that our vision may not resonate with everyone, and there may be attempts to undermine it. However, proving the validity of our vision to others is essential. Any vision we possess must be laid out on the professional table, demonstrating that our plan and vision will work in the long run, as actions speak louder than words.
