Yesterday's #KAIROS technical meeting highlighted several key advancements in the project's weather forecasting models: ❄️ For prediction of high-altitude #ice crystals, increasing the volume of data will be critical to further improving the accuracy of our model.  🌏 Through the collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), we now have access to live #turbulence reports from across the globe, unlocking significant opportunities for enhanced model precision. ⚡ #Storm forecasting capabilities will integrate #EURO1K data from Meteomatics, providing a more granular and actionable approach to the nowcasting model. 📊 An initial benchmark analysis using different evaluation metrics and methodologies show that our #AI model consistently outperforms the traditional forecasting baseline in predicting convective events. Next month will mark a project milestone, since we will present further developments in the 3rd KAIROS biannual meeting. Stay tuned! There was recent earthquake near Nepal and china border with about 7 Richter scale magnitude around local Nepal time 6:50 am. This was predicted 4 days ago as well. Image below is screenshot of the post I have obtained from Facebook. Early prediction helps avoid loss of life. We need more accurate prediction methods and tools. Scientists were able to predict earthquake with more accuracy by studying atmosphere and news about this discovery was circulating few months ago. Nepal government and people should get aware and possible preparation should be done without creating chaos. Leveraging AI is what we can do as AI is getting powerful every day.
