Last night while coming to Solapur from Pune, I overheard a conversation between two guys sitting on my back seats. The 20 yo engineering student was Business Development manager of Startup company named GDIOT Innovations and the 30 yo person was Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Production Team of Tata Motors. Senior guy guided the young lad so brilliantly for two hours about various aspects like Career, Investing, Life at Tata Motors and so on, that I couldn't resist but to join them in the discussion for last 15-20 minutes. For next 15-20 minutes, I asked many questions about demerger of Tata Motors, Future plans about EVs, Global Business number, Competition with Maruti and so on to that Tata Motors guy and he answered every question with lot of patience and willingness. When you do some research on a Stock where you want to invest, such deep discussions are necessary. That's why when you meet such managerial level employees of any listed companies,you must not lose the opportunity to get more and more information from them. #TataMotors #CompanyFundamentals

One of the key learnings that I've had during my time at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] as a part of the RnD team is to think "customer first". I am a very strong believer of the fact that everyone should have an exposure to building products and performing root-cause analyses for real world problems. It broadens your imagination and helps you see through different stages of product lifecycle from a customers' point of view. Working in the tractor business has been specially more enriching in the sense that it allowed me to step away from my own so-called "privileged" point of view, and let me see the realities of rural India. For example, in terms of serviceability and repair, no matter how much effort we put into building top-notch solutions, a local mechanic is the first point of contact most of the times when something fails in the vehicle. Jugaad culture takes a precedence, a lot of user-manuals go for toss and vehicle abuse is predominant in the country. As engineers, it is paramount for us to design considering these abnormalities. It's a classic dilemma of balancing the cost implication of building a robust design versus providing affordability to the customer.  As an MBA student, I now understand how ancillary offerings enable a company to achieve this balance. A Journey of Growth and Innovation at Tata Elxsi As a Senior Practice Manager in the Digital Cockpit & Connected Vehicle Practice at Tata Elxsi, I've had the privilege of leading and supporting innovative projects that are shaping the future of the automotive industry. Since joining in 2004, I've been fortunate to experience continuous learning and growth across multiple domain areas. One of my proudest accomplishments has been engaging with a customer and expanding our team from 10 to over 150 engineers. Additionally, I've had the opportunity to contribute to significant industry events, like Geneva Motor show, CES, Embedded World, SDV Europe conferences. As an SME in the Connected Vehicle Practice, I've also been involved in mentoring and supporting multiple projects within the team. My passion for electronics and automotive technology led me to join Tata Elxsi. Working on various futuristic embedded projects for the automotive industry has further fuelled my enthusiasm and enabled me to contribute innovative solutions. One of the most challenging projects I've worked on at Tata Elxsi was developing control software for an embedded hardware. This project required advanced mathematical algorithms and control systems, as well as extensive customization based on each end user's specific needs. To address these challenges, we developed an innovative tool that empowered customers to provide custom solutions, enabling us to gain a competitive edge in the market. I've been fortunate to have mentors who guided me and provided challenging opportunities, especially in my early career, instilling confidence and encouraging ambitious projects. Additionally, strong connections among engineers across business units have been invaluable for support on challenging tasks. Achieving work-life balance has been a gradual journey, supported by Tata Elxsi's commitment to improving tools and processes. Their focus on transparency and change management fosters stability, with long-term employees helping navigate expectations. My personal motto, "The journey matters, not the destination," has guided me throughout my career. I believe that it's important to focus on the process of learning, growing, and contributing, rather than solely on achieving a specific outcome. For new joiners and freshers, I recommend actively seeking out opportunities to learn and gain hands-on experience in different technologies and domains during their first few years.
