𝓟𝓖𝓐 𝓔𝔁𝓬𝓮𝓵: 𝓡𝓮𝓭𝓮𝓯𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝓪𝓬𝓺𝓾𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓰𝓸𝓵𝓯 𝓲𝓷𝓭𝓾𝓼𝓽𝓻𝔂 In what is a highly competitive employment landscape, the need to stand out against your peers has never been more pressing. For PGA Members and the facilities or companies that employ them, the Association’s flagship assessment framework – PGA Excel – is really proving its worth in this area, helping to progress careers, fill advanced positions and add genuine value. We spoke to John Blanch - General Manager of Loch Lomond Golf Club - while General Manager of Wentworth Club Ltd where he had around 20 PGA Members working across all areas of the facility. He cites PGA Excel as a key indicator for golf facilities looking for the highest quality candidates: “PGA Excel allows PGA Members to demonstrate their impact, achievement and what they’ve done in their career, so the golf facility is more likely to hire someone who has come through PGA Excel. It demonstrates further certification in what they’ve done with their career. I think it’s very important for golf clubs to understand what PGA Excel is, because when they do, they’re likely to hire the best people for the role.” More than 150 PGA Members have been awarded a new designation since the launch in 2022, with the new titles of Advanced, Fellow, Advanced Fellow and Master applying to all three Member specialisms of PGA Professional, PGA Coach and PGA Manager. Fun article to read. Proud that Travelers has been sponsoring SHE Golfs events for a few years now to help broaden the appeal of golf. My first experience with golf was shortly into my career. I was asked to join a corporate outing and had to pass because of no prior experience (= wish I had started to learn earlier). Like most others who had never played before, who wants to embarrass themselves in front of management? Now that I have seen how corporate golf outings can bring people together, I try and share/introduce the game to as many people as possible! Remember for those starting, it's not how your golf game performs on the course, it's how you spend the time engaging with others. PS - Pro tip for the rookies...don't sit back and wait for a follow up invitation for the next outing. Be proactive and seek people out to play with so you can get more comfortable playing one of the most fun and frustrating games out there!

PGA of America Execusearch, please start looking out for PGA of America Members, the owners of the PGA of America. Questions they need answered before they agree to take a position: - How many assistants are on staff? - Is there a shop manager? - Are there shop attendants? - Are there starters? - Are there bagroom attendants? - Are there cart attendants? - Are there golf instructors on staff? - Are there course rangers? - Are there driving range attendants? Is this position and other golf staff positions paid fair wages when compared to similar clubs in the area? Is the person this position reports to okay with a delegation style of management, or is a hands-on approach preferable? You can state a compensation number for a position, but without the above questions answered, that job (like all the others PGA of America Execusearch posts) could be a nightmare or a dream. Is there a performance improvement plan policy in place? To prevent this position and other positions on the golf staff from being terminated without cause, which happens far too often in the golf industry? The PGA of America Members pay you and other Career Service Consultants well. Who holds PGA Career Service Consultants accountable? How are they held accountable? What KPIs must they meet or exceed on a weekly basis? Monthly basis? Annual basis? The PGA of America is not the federal government operating off a bottomless pit of taxpayer dollars. The revenue acquired from the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup is nice, but it should not be wasted. Honestly, why even have PGA Execusearch since there are so many companies in the industry that provide the same services.

Efficiency and Innovation in Action!! Roller skates......hear us out!!!! Recently, I enjoyed some well-earned time off. Golfing for a week in the heat with a diverse group of 16 people! With varying skills and preferences, pleasing everyone was no easy task, especially when some were resistant to change. However, one thing everyone agreed on was the need for refreshments after a hot, hard day on the course. What stood out was the ingenious system the waiter used to ensure everyone got what they wanted, exactly when they wanted it: roller skates! It was a perfect example of efficiency in action, meeting the demand swiftly and effectively. Just as the waiter found a creative solution to serve 16 thirsty golfers efficiently, we work with businesses to not just implement changes but to find innovative ways to improve systems that meet your unique needs. Well, I'm back, refreshed and certainly not dehydrated thanks to the streamlined systems of their waiter!!!

Last weekend, I was fortunate enough to go to Augusta National Golf Club for The Masters. I expected mainly to spend some time away from work and some quality time with my brother. Both of those things were accomplished and I feel more refreshed than I have in a long time. However, I found that Augusta National runs more smoothly and efficiently than almost any company I have found. A few takeaways: 🔹 Identify your ideal client profile and cater your customer experience to them! Augusta is not for the casual golf fan and there are very few frills outside of the golf. 🔹 Continually ask for feedback. It is clear that the entire Masters experience is about tradition and the history of the tournament, which is what that type of golf fan wants. In their case, no long lines, no technology distractions, no opportunity for poor decisions. 🔹 Simplify the buying process and experience. If an effort to simplify and identify lean opportunities ahead of time, it will filter out potential buyers that may not be a fit but also make a more enjoyable experience for your most important customers. It is clear that Augusta and The Masters put in a ton of work up front to make the customer experience quicker and more enjoyable!

It’s really similar…… Head hunting has a more targeted and strategic approach based on necessary needs for a specific role identified for a company endeavor. (I.e. the pool that will have others building and swimming in it) Recruitment could mean some of the same aspects but it does have a more open pool to obtain more possibilities and not eliminate as many but offer other options that maybe don’t fit the exact expectations but can, will and do, (I.e. building the pool and the people swimming in it) It remains, however, about the people. In either case if the feedback never comes and the personalization never exists; the process is crap. Call people back. Answer the question. Tell the truth and be kind in the delivery. Hiring Managers tend to be most of the hold up and not to be disrespectful because most HM’s are handling jobs that they in fact are trying to hire for, but you can’t let too much time go by without keeping the fire under the feet to make the hire. Similarity - trying to hire good people, to do a good job, to show up and stay longer than a minute. #dynamicsofrecruiting #notallrecruitersaretheproblem #thereismorethanmeetstheeye #documentlivetime #ifitisntinthesystemitdoesntexist #allpartiesareaccountable #holdeachotheraccountable #truthteller #yournameisyourbrand
