It’s been a long time since Cyclops made its debut at Wimbledon in 1980, introducing electronic aids to assist tennis officials. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹. Like anything, there are pros and cons, but here’s why I’m excited: 1️⃣ The accuracy of calls will be nearly perfect. 2️⃣ More tennis, less drama. 3️⃣ Faster gameplay with fewer interruptions. 4️⃣ And eventually, more data will be generated, leading to valuable insights! The ATP Tour leading the way, and others have already jumped on board. 👀 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Technology evolves quickly, but behaviors often take longer to adapt. Widespread adoption will take time, and several things need to fall into place: - The technology must be “good enough”—better than what we currently have. - It has to be affordable and scalable. - Most importantly, players, coaches, and organizers need to expect it, want it, and demand it. At the grassroots level, cheating is one of the top reasons athletes quit tennis when they enter competition. It’s 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵, and the overall tournament experience often leaves much to be desired. 🎥📺📊𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 Companies like PlaySight, Baseline Vision , and Wingfield offer affordable, high-quality solutions. Beyond fair play, some even include stats and broadcasting—a cherry on top! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀… ❓ How long until junior and amateur tournament organizers adopt these technologies at scale? No one knows. Next comes policy—will federations make this mandatory? And is the market ready to invest in a better experience? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments 👇🏽

I have to look at this issue from two, or even three perspectives. 🧐 First of all, I am fascinated by the fact that tennis is constantly evolving, with various technological improvements being introduced into the game. 🎾📈 I believe this is definitely a step forward for the sport. Modern solutions will be a huge convenience for players who, in the past, often argued about marks (especially on hard courts or grass). Simply put, it will enhance the comfort of play. ✅ Let’s move on. From the perspective of a fan — greater excitement during key plays. 😲🔥 People who live and breathe sports know how much replays can intensify the emotions of a match. When I watch replays, whether it’s tennis, volleyball 🏐, or football ⚽ (where VAR is used), I often feel a thrill of excitement. It can be pleasant, although not always — it all depends on the final decision, for example, whether the ball was in or out. Lastly, let’s consider the perspective of an umpire. 👨⚖️ I have the pleasure of working as a tennis umpire. While I may not yet be at the level of officiating WTA or ATP matches, I believe I can share my thoughts. Faster and more accurate decisions by the chair umpire are a definite plus. 🏆 The downside? The lack of line umpires means fewer job opportunities. Still, I’m glad I had the chance to work as a line umpire during Iga Świątek’s match in Warsaw two years ago. I made it just in time. Perfect timing I would say. What do you think? 🤔 Will the introduction of this technology impact tennis positively or negatively? #tennis #electroniclinecalling #tennisjudge #newtechnology #atptour

Two of the strongest competitors at the Tour de France for 8 years. They needed each other to perform even better. Besides all the will and fight to win against the opponent - unbelievable what Jan did as Lance fell down at one race: Instead of using the opportunity to his advantage, Jan slowed down until Lance catched up again. You can transfer this to business easily - winning a customer because of the weakness of your competitor is a good but a short lasting feeling. Much more intense, sustainable and motivating is a hard fight at the same level at which only minor things are making the key difference. https://lnkd.in/eebdaBkj
