I applaud our country for changing our position and joining most of the world in calling for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the violent genocide & destruction in Gaza. Humanity deserves an end to these war crimes. “The US has drafted a new UN security council resolution calling for an “immediate ceasefire” and hostage deal in Gaza, amid mounting pressure on Israel to halt its military campaign and allow the delivery of substantial amounts of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian territory. The CIA and Mossad spy chiefs, William Burns and David Barnea, were expected to arrive in Qatar on Friday in the hope of clinching an elusive truce-for-hostages deal between Israel and Hamas. Speaking in Egypt, the US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, said difficult work remained to be done but added: “I continue to believe it’s possible.” Blinken characterised the UN resolution drafted by the US as calling for “an immediate ceasefire tied to the release of hostages.” It said an “immediate and sustained ceasefire” was “imperative” adding that “towards that end” unequivocal support should be given to the hostage negotiations. What? Why? What has the Global South has to say that anyone with eyes can fail to see? I support Israel's right to protect itself - and that means the casus belli to invade Gaza is more or less fulfilled. How the war is prosecuted is another matter. I am sympathetic to what happens in a warzone for soldiers and civilians - because this is FIBUA; urban fighting is ugly. The problem is that the civilians have nowhere to go - and the Gaza while an urban fortress, was also under a siege. And sieges - from Alesia to Leningrad tends to go badly for civilians. The method seems straight-forward: Break in, occupy, destroy Hamas, secure and rebuild. Compress the action, shorten the pain for everyone. North Gaza has been occupied and mostly pacified. And by now, aid and safe zones should allow the civilians in North Gaza to be safe, and mostly fed. Hamas there is mostly defeated. And yet the civilians are still suffering. It is not that there is a lack of aid available, it is that somehow aid is not getting through. I am not going to speculate why this is so - but it is obvious this is so. This is cruel and needless. Unless it is intentional.

The disproportionate use of force has sparked global outrage, with calls for an immediate ceasefire and accountability for war crimes. Yet, the Israeli military continues its onslaught, perpetuating a cycle of violence and fear. As the world marks this grim milestone, we stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza, demanding an end to the bloodshed and a just resolution to the conflict. The international community must act decisively to halt Israel's aggression and ensure the protection of Palestinian lives and dignity. One cannot therefore argue that they are being misconstrued. 2) Even Israel's supposedly humanitarian actions (e.g. the evacuation order) are genocidal, because they constitute mass displacement, aid is being withheld, and people in safe areas are still being bombed 3) Israel is not just in this case for committing genocide, but for doing next to nothing to prevent genocide and punish those that incite genocide 4) Israel is still the occupying power in Gaza and so Israel cannot argue it is acting in self-defence over territory it controls, but even if it could, self-defence can never take the form of genocide 5) Israel claims it is only attacking Hamas, but the extent of destruction, clearly indiscriminate, cannot then be described as a "manhunt" for Hamas. ⭕️ Ceasefire Negotiations: The headlines in Western mainstream media read, "Ham@s rejects ceasefire" This alternative reality spewed out constantly is part of the problem in scapegoating the Palestinians and push for a wider regional conflict that only US/ISR desires. - There has been no real advancements in reaching a ceasefire agreement despite multiple news sources citing the nearing of arriving at an agreement by all parties. - Ham@s and other resistance groups have stated that the proposal brought forward by the US and the Zi0nist entity are no different than previous proposals. - The current proposal gives the Zi0nist occupation the right to remain in Gaza, primarily occupying the middle of the Gaza Strip, separating the North from the South. - The current proposal limits the age, gender and number of people who are allowed to travel from South Gaza back to North Gaza during the ceasefire. - The current proposal does not include a complete ceasefire, rather a temporary one, in a bid to allow for the release of prisoners and hostages. - The resistance groups are insisting on their demands that no ceasefire agreement will be considered if it does not stipulate the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, an end to the genocide on Gaza, the free movement of the people of Gaza between South & North and the lifting of the siege to allow humanitarian aid to enter freely.
