Happy #FACSfamFriday, everyone! Next to enter our spotlight is Madeleine Dangazyan, MS, CIH! Madeleine is a Senior Project Manager, MS, CIH, and is out of the Los Angeles office. She is an enormous science enthusiast, particularly in chemistry. Check out Madeleine's responses to our questions below, as well as a photo of her with her family celebrating her daughters' graduations. Do you have any questions for Madeleine or other FACS employees you'd like to see answered in the next #FACSfamFriday? Let us know by commenting on this post. What’s your favorite thing about working at FACS? I have the privilege of working with such an amazing, talented, intelligent, fun group of individuals. But mostly, I feel like family at FACS, and it is very rare to find a workplace where individuals feel truly cared for. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? I love to read and binge-watch psychological thrillers. What is one thing that you geek out about? All things science; particularly chemistry.....You know the saying....."you can take the girl out of the lab, ......but you can't take the lab out of the girl". I am elated anytime a FACS project takes me to a laboratory environment. It's a total geek fest! What is your favorite store to shop at in-person or virtually? I love to shop at Home Goods. I can browse the isles for hours looking for trinkets, knick knacks and all things Homey & Good!! What makes you laugh the most? Quirky dad jokes. The quirkier, the more belly-aching laugh. I love them! If you were a super-hero, what power would you want? Not sure if this counts as super hero power, but I would love to get my hands on Wonderwoman's Lasso of truth..... What is your favorite random fact? Otters sleep holding hands, so they don't drift apart while asleep. Isn't this awesome? I think they hold the secret to a strong, lasting relationship, both figuratively and literally!

As summer approaches, physicians and high income medical professionals face the challenge of balancing work and personal well-being. This season offers an opportunity to focus on self-care, including financial wellness. Financial stability reduces stress, improves health, and provides greater personal freedom. It allows physicians to achieve work-life balance, pursue passions, and make impactful choices. To achieve financial wellness, physicians can work with financial professionals, track their expenses, develop debt reduction strategies, and continue their financial education. Financial wellness significantly impacts overall well-being, allowing physicians to provide quality care, maintain personal health, and enjoy a more fulfilling life. What fun activities do you have scheduled for this summer?

I believe there are 4 ingredients to a great first meeting. These are things everyone has control over. And when they're done right, people remember us weeks and months later. I shared these 4 ingredients with undergraduate students interning at UC Davis Health. They used these to build relationships with doctors, nurses, and administrators, which led to mentorship opportunities. What are the 4 ingredients to great first meetings? 1. EYE CONTACT - to show full focus on the person we're meeting 2. A SMILE - to be welcoming and open to conversation 3. FIRM HANDSHAKE - to share our energy and excitement for the meeting 4. UPRIGHT POSTURE - to give respect to the occasion What would you add for a 5th ingredient?

Faculty Careers & Employability Manager - Science and Engineering, The Manchester Metropolitan University
🙏🏻 Feeling grateful today that I get to work with this lovely bunch 🙏🏻 Monday Motivation with Julian White, Carole Lee, Shauna Burns Angela Corbett and Adam Hugill 👇🏻 We spent the morning reviewing our faculty careers priorities and workloads. It’s been a monster project but I think we’re nearly there! 💡 Takeaway: It was a timely reminder of all the fantastic work happening across our teams. This project will help us to better align with our strategy and to be clearer on what we do and why. It was a simple pleasure to take time out to spend lunch together, made a busy day brighter. 💡 Takeaway: I had forgotten how delicious a jacket potato with cheese and beans is! This afternoon we continued with our Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy applications, finalising our experience grids and supporting each other with practice professional dialogue questions. 💡 Takeaway: Don’t overlook what may seem obvious - it might not be so for everyone else. Oh, and to brag a bit more. We need to proudly showcase the work we are doing. Cheers, Christopher Little for the motivation and sound advice

Going In-House: “Toto, We're Not in Kansas Anymore.” When I moved to Austin, Texas, to work in an office, I found myself preferring late hours when distractions were minimal. I often stayed until the lights were off and vacuums were running, even notifying janitorial staff that I was still there. I found working during business hours with so many people distracting, working after hours allowed me to get get my head down and crank out everything I needed to get done. Moving in-house was a big culture shift. In the field, it was the Wild West—"just do it and ask for forgiveness later." I expected my ideas to be implemented immediately, with no understanding of cross-collaboration or the need for input from marketing, regulatory, or compliance. The slower pace and bureaucratic hurdles were frustrating. For instance, a simple flyer could take weeks to finalize, with multiple rounds of revisions because someone preferred one word over another. It seemed like a waste of time. This experience taught me the critical importance of cross-departmental teamwork. I initially believed I had to handle everything on my own since I was an individual contributor and no one on my immediate team shared my specific role expectations. However, I quickly realized that my true teammates were in other departments. Education was ultimately part of marketing, and their input was crucial to ensure our programs aligned with the overall strategy and messaging. I had no idea at first and ruffled a lot of feathers. I often reflect on how I would have done things differently back then. The unnecessary pressure I placed on myself was eye-opening, and learning to work and rely on others was a humbling yet valuable lesson. That first year in-house was full of learning. I had little direction, no onboarding, and no SOPs but managed to develop crucial education programs for CardioMEMS and fought to include education for APPs, a group often overlooked in terms of ROI. Despite the challenges, I made it happen, and these programs became vital to our education portfolio. As I mentioned in a previous post, change is constant in this industry. During my first year, St. Jude Medical acquired Thoratec, and just over a year later, we were acquired by Abbott. A new role opened up to manage a small team of education program managers, and I applied and got the position. Stay tuned for the next post…

It is estimated that the average person will spend one-third of their life at work. That is roughly 90,000 hours at work over your lifetime. Knowing this, there are two things you should always focus on when it comes to work and your career. You have to love what you do and really enjoy and care about the people you work with. When I read this quote I realize how fortunate I am to be working at Catapult Health.
