We really enjoyed our time at the Great Yorkshire Show last week! We'll be at more shows and events throughout the summer. Including: 🌳 Driffield Show, East Yorkshire - 17 July. We'll be attending alongside Humber Forest and The Woodland Trust to discuss the grants and incentives available to support creating and managing woodlands. 🌲 Burwarton Show, Shropshire - 1 August. An interesting situation. The personal & handheld thermal market has also exploded in NZ in the last few years. It will be interesting to see if any legislation occurs here. Especially with the new govts promise of a Minister for Hunting & Fishing. Thermals have a variety of applications and have an excellent spot in NZ wild animal control, especially for contractors working at night on rabbits, possums, wallabies & other mammalian pests. These are certainly a value adding tool. In recreational hunting I have mixed feelings. While they can be a value adder to the hunt I see alot of hunters adopting their use as the primary & often the only hunting option. While modern tech is and has been great for getting more hunters involved, I'm not convinced that thermals will necessarily make you a better hunter. Especially for the novice or young hunter adopting them as a primary hunting tool. Hunting should be an intensely somatic & cathartic experience and to appreciate that you have to learn the "real" skills of hunting first. Some things in nature, tech just can't replace. And sometimes less is actually more. The hunters who most understand their core will understand this concept too.
