The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) Stakeholders Meeting was held on August 1st, 2024 in Madurai, around the establishment of a SIPCOT Industrial Innovation Centre (SIIC) in the district. The event brought together various stakeholders from the Madurai ecosystem including industry captains, academia administrators, industry associations, trade bodies, startup entrepreneurs, MSME promoters, and government officials from southern districts including Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi to discuss opportunities for collaboration and stakeholder engagement strategies for the upcoming SIIC. Dr K Senthilraj IAS, MD - SIPCOT, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the growing importance of Madurai in the industrial landscape and the catalytic role that the recently-sanctioned 26,000 sqft. SIPCOT Industrial Innovation Centre (FORT) will play in the development of Madurai's industrial ecosystem. This development marks a significant step towards enhancing the industrial infrastructure to foster innovation-led industrial transformation in the region. Following this, Sivarajah Ramanathan - Mission Director & CEO, StartupTN, highlighted the remarkable growth of startups in Tamil Nadu and the state's startup prowess ranging from fintech & software based startups to hardware startups - stressing the collective responsibility to nurture and support diverse startups to drive economic growth and technological advancement in the state. Vish Sahasranamam, Cofounder & CEO - Forge, outlined to the stakeholders gathered how FORTs, as world-class incubation centres to catalyse industrial transformation, offer a full-spectrum of value-added resources and services to industrial companies - leveraging the transformative levers of talent, technology and ventures to enable them to achieve their strategic goals. He also outlined through case studies and proven success stories from the FORTs in Chennai & Hosur how these offerings of comprehensive deep technical infrastructure, services and resources seed, nurture, and accelerate the development of technologically advanced innovations into industrial-grade, commercially viable products ready for deployment at scale - thereby creating a deep impact to both the technology and manufacturing sectors in Tamil Nadu simultaneously. This initiative will accelerate the pace of adoption of technology across several industrial sectors in and around Madurai - further strengthening productivity and competitiveness. In addition, the innovators and startups seeded, nurtured, and promoted by these centres shall emerge as the next generation of enterprises creating holistic economic growth for the state of TN, driving the state towards its goal of a $1 Tn economy by 2030.
