Encourage the interested public/private transportation agency decision makers as well as academic researchers, to map their currently used or potential GPP/Sustainability solutions within the matrix. This week, we're shining a spotlight on our Fayetteville, WV project for American Electric Power (AEP)! Our crews are hard at work placing and compacting the initial backfill soil to the achieve subgrade. Why is proper soil compaction crucial? Proper soil compaction is essential for the stability and longevity of the substation. It prevents settlement and shifting that could compromise the structure's integrity. Without adequate compaction, we risk: - Foundation Failure: Leading to costly repairs or even complete rebuilds. - Water Damage: Poorly compacted soil can lead to water pooling and erosion. - Safety Hazards: Unstable ground can create dangerous working conditions for crews and future maintenance teams.
