Sometimes, marketing creativity emerges out of nowhere. That's what happened with a newspaper ad from the OLG. At a time when digital dominates, this four-page insert is a reminder that print can make a splash. What makes this campaign truly stand out? At first glance, the insert appears to be promoting an art gallery or museum installation. But as you discover each page, it reveals a celebration of OLG's success: 11 Lotto Max jackpot-winning tickets, over $545 million in prizes, and a QR code that invites people to buy lottery tickets.  The phrase "Cut, Throw, and Celebrate" encourages an almost celebratory call to action. It grabs our attention, tells a story, and encourages people to envision what winning looks like. As marketers, it is a reminder to step outside our comfort zones and explore unconventional mediums. I find this ad from Concept 2 very interesting, mainly because the image they are using in their ad is NOT a Concept 2 machine, but rather one of their competitors, most likely a cheap knockoff. My guess is that they split tested and discovered that this image had the highest CTR so they went with it, branding be damned. What do you think is going on here?
