Green Beauty Conversations: Sustainable Manufacturing with Nishit Dedhia Whenever we think about green beauty, we typically imagine the botanical ingredients in our formulations, picturing fields of sunflowers, roses, and lavender. Or, we think about the products themselves being crafted by experts with their scientific equipment, and how these formulations are used by people like us on our bathroom shelves. However, what we often overlook is where these products are made. We don't usually picture big factories, consider the water and energy used to create a facial serum, or think about the waste generated by manufacturing billions of products worldwide. These large facilities are everywhere and play a crucial role in the beauty industry. You most likely wouldn't have the majority of your beauty products without these factories, unless you exclusively buy from indie brands that manufacture in their home labs. But are cosmetic manufacturing facilities considering sustainability? How do they manage their water and electricity usage? What do they do about waste streams? How do these big facilities operate sustainably? To explore these questions, I invited a member of the Formula Botanica community, Nishit Dedhia, founder of KAIN Cosmeceuticals, to join me for this episode. Listen in as we delve into sustainable manufacturing practices in the beauty industry. Join us as we discuss: The journey of KAIN Cosmeceuticals and its mission The popularity of natural beauty in India The facility's eco-friendly design and certifications Managing water and electricity usage Waste management and sustainability initiatives Challenges and successes in reformulating with natural ingredients We hope this episode inspires you to think more about the sustainability of the beauty products you use. We'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode. Have you ever considered the facilities where your skincare, haircare, and makeup are manufactured? How important is it to you that these plants operate sustainably? Share your thoughts with us below! Listen now and join the conversation! 🎧 https://lnkd.in/e_uMSZtd
