It's not often on LinkedIn we admit our faults...hold the line caller ☎ But when Chris Craven came to me to say he wanted to partner with local charity Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to give a proportion of our stocks every month to help the most vulnerable in our local community in this #costoflivingcrisis my first thought was brilliant ✅ It's a fantastic cause ✅ It's relevant to us ✅ It's a local charity ✅ a lot of our staff grew up in and around the local communities this project will support But my second thought; the selfish one, the one I'm not at all proud of and debated sharing publicly was 'great, another thing I have to put on my to do list'.. I checked my privilege and remembered something my good friend said to me... When you start to think in terms of 'I have to' flip it and start thinking in terms of 'I get to'. I get to work for a fantastic company Forrest Fresh Foods Ltd that puts; people before profit, that donates food to the people in the local community who need it most. I get to work with fantastic and generous supply partners who have boosted our donation with free stock and shared stories of their own struggles I get to be involved in a project that will make a difference to the local community and I get to do this every month. I get to share these pictures with my network in the hope that we remember in our positions we get to make a difference. So today please add something to your to-do list that will make a difference to your local community. We get to make their day.
