This theme emphasizes the importance of valuing yourself, treating yourself with compassion and respect, and prioritizing your health needs through self-love. Despite widespread availability of life-saving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in sub-Saharan Africa, AIDS remains one of the leading causes of death among adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) in sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose of this article was to review the state of the science regarding interventions to improve ART adherence and/or HIV care retention among ALHIV throughout sub-Saharan Africa. https://lnkd.in/d36-962D

🐻Building a better future for our chilfdren Testing, limited access to treatment, and, most importantly, stigma continue to impede many individuals who are unaware of their HIV status. CSIH WCA and its members are dedicated at all levels to dismantling these barriers and putting an end to the AIDS epidemic in West and Central Africa. Today we're taking a break from #FunFoodFriday and shedding light on #ZeroHIVStigmaDay ❤️ Educating yourself and others about HIV can help diminish stigma and inequalities. HIV can only be transmitted by contact with HIV-infected blood, amniotic fluid, semen, pre-ejaculate, vaginal fluids, rectal fluids, or breast milk. The Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States (EHE) initiative aims to reduce new HIV infections by 90% by 2030. The initiative includes four pillars: # DIAGNOSE, # TREAT, # PREVENT, and # RESPOND, and will scale up science-based strategies for each that can end the epidemic. Knowing one’s status is a critical step in accessing powerful prevention and treatment tools. Whether a person has HIV or not, this knowledge leads to actions that can improve health and prevent HIV. 87% of the estimated 1.2 million people with HIV in the U.S. are aware of their status. Only 56% of those aged 13–24 know their status.* #hivisnotadeathsentence #knowyourstatus
