I recently had success with an employment law candidate who wanted to go in-house because they didn’t like corporate support. I challenged their thinking. What if they could stay in private practice with minimal corporate support? They wanted human contact. Corporate support felt dull and disconnected. Going in-house would have meant dropping down to a junior role for several years. The outcome? The CV went to a top firm.
